Building my Datsun when I had it was fun. Building my engine for my Infiniti was fun. Building my race bike was fun. Routine maintenance on daily drivers? Not fun, especially when it turns into day 3 of what should have taken 3 hours and you're back and forth to the parts store.

Everyone always asks me why I never worked as an auto mechanic, or why I didn't go the mechanic route in the military. Because I don't enjoy that type of wrenching, and doing that every day would ruin the rest of it.
Agreed. I like routine maintenance on my cars, but all day every day would be less fun.

The front wheel wells are decent size already, other than poke maybe. But if your gonna do narrow tires then it would be fine.
The rears on the other hand could easily be longer. Plus it would be an excuse to get a wire feed welder.
Haha, there I go spending OPM!!!

A nice tasteful retro mod will look cool.
Bring the parts and use my welder, which sits a lot these days. It ain't a cheapie......

it was different for me - I loved the hands-on stuff, working on something different on a different car every day............ but disliked working on my own stuff.
I could easily make decisions on other vehicles and breeze through it but struggled making a decision on my own. Even today, working on stuff for others takes precedence over my own (well, if I could even do anything at all right now)
Every day it was a different problem to figure out and fix on a different vehicle, and that I liked.
Routine maintenance on my stuff is boring and a pain. Major repairs for others - that's fun.
Yeah, if I was young and healthy, I'd be working in a shop as a troubleshooter again. That's a lot of what I did back then

But most of working in a shop is far from routine - you have to figure out what the problem is (troubleshooting) and implement the repair. Different problem, different vehicle every time.
Working doing oil changes all day? No, screw that. But the challenge of figuring out the problem and fixing it, that I love - one anything except my own. Always struggled with my own, did great if it wasn't my own.

Vlad the Glad and I left Orlando at 1 AM so I could watch the sun come up over the Fl Keys and to enjoy a nice cool morning drive down to Key West. Love my Gladiator. Heading to my buddy's wedding, who after 4 kids, is finally gonna marry the sweetheart.

At 7 below this AM and 18 now, that's looking pretty sweet! Normally people might say "I wish you were here" but in this case I'll say "I wish I was there".

Cold(40) here and raining. I'll take dome snow over cold rain. I put the booster seats in the JT this morning to take the grandkids to school. Heated steering and steering wheel was the reason for that.

For me too. A foot of snow yesterday here. But at least it’s beautiful today.
Yeah, I now know my Mojave plows just as well as my Overland did - at least as well.
And I might find some cheap stuff to bolt to the ends of the blade to compensate for the wider stance of the Mojave.
The axles are 1.5" (0.75" each side) longer than the Overland axles are, plus, the Mojave wheels have a different offset, or is that backset, to make them stick out farther to clear the shock stuff on Mojave. So it's even wider outside of tread to outside of tread than a Rubicon is.
I forgot that Mojave wheels are a tad different, making the footprint width the widest of all Gladiators.

I am such a light weight when it comes to the cold temps.
Me too. Raynaud's doesn't help - get to 40 degrees and that heated wheel is ON. Even my wife calls me a cold-weather wimp. She wears a light jacket when it's 10 degrees and I've got layers on.
