Nice! WIth all that load, you were still within 1/2 mpg of a naked, stock Chevy Colorado Bison's EPA highway rating of 16. I scratch my head as to why they can't get more mpg out of a turbo while Jeep's barn door Gladiator can do much better with a NA, port injected V6.Wasn't "today", but just got home from Jasper Jeep Jam in Jasper, Arkansas.
Can't complain about those numbers. Winter blend fuel, heavy head winds towing a ~1600lb trailer at 70mph on 35s. Best MPGs I saw was 17mpgs avg for the first 200 miles while there was no wind. After that it was heavy head wind the entire time.

*3.0 This is a dirty diesel. Doubtful the 3.6 gasser would have seen anything close to this under the same conditions.Nice! That trailer is cool, btw!
My Apocalypse Rated JT is happy to get 13MPG, downhill with a tailwind.*3.0 This is a dirty diesel. Doubtful the 3.6 gasser would have seen anything close to this under the same conditions.
Take out he heavy head wind and winter blend fuel and I'd wager I'll see around 20mpgs average towing this trailer.
And thanks on he trailer comment. I built this in 2022 as a base camp setup. I should have went a tad bigger, this is a 5x8 and with the galley I barely have enough length to sleep not curled up. Looking to sell and either go slightly larger to a 5x10 or stay with a 5x8 but no galley and pop-up wedge roof. Would also like a square drop rear vs having the slanted rear, you lose a lot of usable space with the slanted rear. But I learned a lot building it and it's treated us good.
I miss that so much. I used to be out there every summer.![]()
Went and hit the beach at Fort Fisher. Weather was finally tolerable!
The Bison and ZR2 have always had considerably worse performance numbers and MPG numbers than other 4wd Colorados and Canyons. I had a Canyon AT4 and now I have my dads old Z71 Colorado and both get great mpg and are powerful.Nice! Actually with only 1500lbs, it just might see 15+. I get 14.5 towing a 2500lb boat that pushes more wind around than that nicely shaped trailer. But it certainly wouldn't have the authority over it that the diesel would!*3.0 This is a dirty diesel. Doubtful the 3.6 gasser would have seen anything close to this under the same conditions.

Yeah and it makes no sense. But the Bison is EPA rated at 16 across the board. They have tall final drive ratios, too, than the Gladiator Rubi. The Bison and ZR2 have always had considerably worse performance numbers and MPG numbers than other 4wd Colorados and Canyons. They’re very cool! I’d rather open the checkbook for going nuts at AEV on my JT though. The Colorado and Canyon are great trucks, but IMO they’re best suited at the Z71/AT4 level.Yeah and it makes no sense. But the Bison is EPA rated at 16 across the board. The Bison has about the same size gas tank, too, maybe 1 gallon less. When my brother gets his we'll know the story. We'll be taking some long trips where I should see 18-20mpg depending on our speed. We'll know at the first fill up, for sure.
I told him to strap a gas can in his bed next to that big spare tire. LOL!
I saw a white Bison at a Chevy dealer Saturday. VERY nice looking truck!
The only Gladiator I would trade my Rubicon for is an Earl Rubicon. Don’t ever sell itNothing too crazy - but went and picked up our new TC Teardrop camper this weekend! Looking forward to getting this out on the trails with our JT.
yes, we did color match the Jeep Earl Gray. It isn’t perfect, but to the naked eye it goes together great!![]()

That’s awesome to hear - I have no intention of letting this go. I want it to become my beater many years down the road but I plan to keep it rolling as long as I possibly can! We love it.The only Gladiator I would trade my Rubicon for is an Earl Rubicon. Don’t ever sell it
