I'd like to have the diesel one but it was released later than mine.
If so I still would want the 4:10 gears in axles at least. Looking back at 2021-22 when I was being hounded to trade in at silly offers I should have. Now at 101200 miles only frustration was the batteries situation when one failed. The diesel would be well under most of my trailer towing but possibly not in capacity for loading in bed some of the times. I definitely tested that hauling bagged concrete and concrete blocks some times.
All the diesels get 3.73 gears no matter trim or tire size, Wrangler or Gladiator. I feel it works well with the 315/70r17 I have now. But I'm afraid it won't be enough if I swap to 37s next time around. I did know what I was getting into with towing and payload. Our enclosed trailer conversion, even when loaded with RZR and everything is well under the Gladiator's capacity.
But it will limit trailer size in the future. Oh well, we'll probably end up with a motorhome at sometime in the future, vs a bigger trailer.

Yeah I know that, but it would be a want for me if I had a diesel Gladiator still

Decided (at the last minute) to take the Gladdy up north to Cap Code area on vacation. Only our 2nd long distance trip with the Gladdy.
This was a family get-together (bereavement), so we didn’t get to do any ‘Jeepish’ things….. The Gladdy was surprisingly comfortable for the trip and did well. Adaptive Cruise is very nice - but surprising….. it’d downshift from 8th gear down to 5th in situations where you wouldn’t think you’d need it to drop that much. It doesn’t waste any time getting you back up to your set speed.
Two adults and probably 200lbs of additional gear - going between 65-75mph on highways most of the way. The one tank of gas (on the way there) - 254miles - 18mpg average. On the way home - the entire trip back home - 443 miles - 19mpg average. That’s the best mileage we’ve seen since we’ve owned it.
Had a great trip with family (whom I only see once a year)….. Gladdy made it more fun. Lots of Jeep waves and I ducked several Jeeps while I was there.

That's how they are supposed to operate. It's a documented thing in the tech docs for the ZF transmissions. Jumping or skipping gears saves a lot of wear and tear on clutch packs and reduces heat. It anticipates the needs where the older generations of transmissions couldn't do that - they only knew governor pressure vs. throttle pressure and dropped one at a time.
These are smarter and learn patterns and also know how much speed they have to lose, being interconnected with other modules.

I figured as much….. but it’s hard for old dogs to get used to these new Jeep tricks. 🤪

These engines love high rpms. Don’t be afraid to just let it shift.

Your tranny will last longer if it does what it wants. Don’t get me wrong. I baby it when I tow heavy loads. But otherwise I let it eat.

I’m boring. I went to get the mail, and then came over to check on Mom.
