Got off the train at 9:30 this morning, removed the Freedom Tops and headed into Manassas Battlefield National Park and on to the Salamader in Middleburg. Perfect mid 80's - a blessed day for a Florida guy to enjoy his Jeep šŸ˜Ž

Train ride with your Gladiator, who'd of thunk it?!?!

I've ridden Amtrak from Vancouver, WA to Seattle for Supercross. It's about a break even prospect with 2 people, vs fuel, parking, etc. Definitely more relaxing.

Just curiosity, gots me wondering. How does the train vs driving compare, price wise? How about time, is it much slower with extra stops? You don't set in your rig, like some ferry boat crossings?
Does sound kinda cool. Wish there was one from here locally that went to Moab or Colorado.

I fly da plane...
I don't want to be "that guy" who one-ups everyone but... I drove my Jeep to work today... again.

But I did hit a curb in a turn so I consider that wheeling.

The Amtrak Auto Train (AAT) is a non-stop direct route between Sanford, Florida and Lorton, Virginia. It is the only AAT in the US. It travels approximately 900 miles each way along interior freight lines and this trip yesterday included 196 vehicles, of which 2 were Harleys and the train was 3/4 miles long - forgot how many passengers. The train leaves Sanford around 4 PM and arrives in Lorton at 9 AM the following morning. This was my 7th round trip on the AAT. Prices are based on season, and whether you travel in coach or rent a sleeper or roomette. The value or "forest view" is they unload a fully fueled and clean Gladiator that is already packed and you then have a good day to reach most of the Eastern Seaboard, 2 days to all of New England. It works for me. PS: Results may vary. šŸ˜‰ PSS: Sunrise near Quantico Marine Base - beautiful ride into Va.

There used to be an auto train to Whittier Alaska. They loaded vehicles somewhere around Turnagain Arm. My sister took the trip. She said she road in her truck on the train. Took a couple hours??
I’m not sure if they still run it.

I wish the ATT would come to the northeast the When I drive to FL from NH the worst part is CT to VA, the Drive from VA to FL is the good ride

Finally mounted a Rhino Rack Platform to the Alucab and wired in some Hardkorr Hyperfloods. They work so well for camp!

It’s always nice to see what’s going bump in the night while camping. Since we boondock a lot, I have four 3ā€ LED light pods under the motorhome that point out to each side. Not much getting into the motorhome, but it’s nice to know if there is an intruder of some kind since we’ve had bears, moose, donkeys, etc. in camp on a number of occasions.

When we camp in the Jeep, I have two 120volt LED lights plugged into a remote control switch that is plugged into the Bluetti power unit, as I can’t get to the switches inside the Jeep when we are in the truck bed tent. Lights at night make my spousal into a happy girl…
