Then why are they buying a Jeep? Why can't they stay within their wheelhouse of low riders, street rides, bouncing classics? The Bubba Truck people stay in their lane. The squatter truck group stays in their lane. The Jeep community needs to take back our heritage.

Who am I kiding - I'm just ranting. It don't matter to me what they do, it's their money.
As a baby, everyone is dropped on their head to some degree...some of them hit the ground at a different angle...:surprised:

I ended up finding a spot next to an old man in a CJ-5. He and I sat on the beach and ranted.

Sorry dude, the future is now. Jeep basically makes a huge Lego set. The off road culture won’t be doomed much more than it was when EFI was introduced or as we see the manuals get phased out. This will just be another niche of folks who enjoy their show vehicles. The future is still bright and it’s not necessarily with fugly Neón under glow on 30 inch wheels.

I personally chuckle when someone tells me they “overland” and that’s why they need to carry max trax and fuel tanks at all times on a rack. I’d say none of us overland, we camp in developed camp grounds 3 times a year and are less than 10 miles from the nearest gas station when we settle in for the night. Companies are just good at marketing their excess crap. I say carry less gear and more beer.

This pic is 55 miles from the nearest pavement and about 65 miles to the nearest gas station. I stay at this fishing spot for 5-7 days at a time. I don't know if this counts as "Overlanding" or not.
No cell service out there so I carry ham and a satellite communicator.

I was going to post some similar pics but then thought “Why bother?”. There’s no point trying to argue with ignorance and it’s just mentally draining.

Well, the moment I finished reading the OPs rant, I knew this wouldn't go well. lol The Gladiator is a piss poor offroad only vehicle, too long, too low, too heavy. Even with a lot of modifications it will just keep up with lesser modified LJ's and JKUs mostly because of breakover and departure limitations.

I have seen this attitude with the go fast bois, the mini truck dudes, the full size custom truck people, etc. It's a cult like approach to vehicle ownership. It's easy to love a certain platform and think that anyone who doesn't use and appreciate it the way you do is an idiot and shouldn't own one.

I look at vehicles like that and appreciate the amount work and money spent unless the workmanship is dogshit, then I clown. Their money, their passion, their business. Just keep swimming.
This is what I would have said if I could write this well. Ha.

That’s an awesome pic btw @kb5zcr, there aren’t very many beaches left you can drive on. Glad YOU get the most use out of your rig. My point isn’t to offend anyone, it’s pointing out that for every 10 roof top tents that are sold, probably 8 are fashion statements. Very few people “overland” - most of us camp.

I’m glad all of these companies exist, I’m also glad people who don’t truly “need” their products are able to purchase them, as this is how they stay afloat.

Most of us though, do look silly parking on asphalt or in a garage 360 days a year with rotopax and Maxtrax mounted with our axe at the ready. Hell you can make the same argument about all of us running 37’s and lift kits that don’t really “need” them.

Again, my point? Let people spend their money on what every want (like the point of this whole thread) - Different strokes for different folks.

Even an arrogant fool like me who isn’t worth engaging with can spew out some thoughtful insights, I think.
