My son purchased a 10 year old, one owner Tundra that the original owner had left the ball mount in the receiver since day one… it was rusted in solid. And still is. This was a well maintained, garaged truck in Massachusetts. How do you keep the same happening to any truck in the salt belt If you leave something in all the time?

I've seen that happen. Doesn't take long if you leave the ball mount in place for several months. BAAAD rust.

Even though I keep a rubber/vinyl hitch plug cover in place when not in use, i spray inside and out with FluidFilm at the beginning of each season. I crawl under and spray any exposed unpainted bolts and ends as well.

No complaints at all - glad I had it. I leave it in permanently now unless Im towing. 20% off is a great deal
