I got my stuff in today, install this weekend. The antenna mount is plain SS, any reason I can't rattle can it black?
Depending on antenna most need to make metal to metal contact with the mount, which needs to make metal to metal contact with the body of the vehicle.

Oh got ya.

Hmm ok I may just mask off the lip and the area the ant mounts to then and just black out the body.

Got my 275 installed today. That ground stud was a pita with the ridge around it but made it work.

we're using both of these for our move to Arizona. My wife and i are driving in separate vehicles. We tried them out a few nights ago and they work great

Here is a good spot to mount the MXT275. I got my kit from CoolTech LLC. It also has a great antenna mount. Works great, plenty of range with the ghost antenna and the 6db antenna.

the Base unit is Easy to zip-tie and wedge in to the left of the glove box - using the supplied bracket. Speaker facing the glovebox also gives you more volume when turning on both speakers - base unit and mic speaker.

the Antenna pillar mount from Cool Tech LLC is very sturdy and can use either bolt. Cool Tech LLC Mic mount is also very sturdy. Here it is next to my CB antenna.

You could wait for the 575 that was announced, a 275 but 50 watt vs the 15 of the 275.

Honestly range is more a determination line of site with uhf. The 275 hidden unit is very slick with the ability to stow the "mic" when not in use.

I have mine tucked up to the right of the glove box.

Thanks for the replies. I would love to have the antenna mount to the roll cage so it's always under the top. Would this be a good idea? Or am I going to get cancer of some sort

LOL no, but you'll reduce the effectiveness. That said it would still work. I got solid 2.5 mile range w my 5w hand held using it in cab.

Any particular reason?

You can get smaller lower profile antenna.
