I'm running a 275 in mine, the overall package drew me in to going that direction. So far it's performed exactly how I've needed it too and it's nice not having to spend several days tuning an antennae like I did for a CB. Part of the question should also be the distance in which you need it to work in? If I need a rescue I really don't need something that's necessarily going to reach the Eastern coast if I'm in New Mexico, it just has to reach someone in a manageable range to my location.

We went with the 275 for my wife's 4Runner so that it can be taken out of her car and used as a home base unit. I'm running the 400 in my Gladiator

Just got my midland today, i mounted it to the jcr offroad overheadmount mount. I cut a hole in the back of a molle pouch and ran the mic plug to the radio. Ill pull it out when i hit the trails, i dont think i could put up with the wire swinging back and forth if it wasnt in the pouch lol. I wanted to mount it overhead but i didnt want to deal with the wires hitting me and blocking my rearview. Thought id share the idea if anyone else was looking to mount it overhead and not deal with the wires.

I'm looking at the MXT275 as well. Big draw for me is the remote head. JT dose not have a lot of space for adding a Head unit that I like and keeping it all out of site out of mind is good.

Can any of you post some pics where you mounted it? I've heard under the steering Colum, under the seat? Couple pics be great.

I used a knockoff of the CoolTech CB dash mount for mine, and then put the control box up under the dash.

How did you do the head under the dash? That's what I want to see :)

Of course, the one thing I didn’t take pictures of lol. I mounted it in the area of the transmission tunnel by the center stack. That worked out because I have the aux switches, so I used the hot wire they provide on the inside to wire it.

I can't take a picture as it's hidden, but if you have the glove box off, feel behind the speaker enclosure on the right. There's a decent cavity behind it that goes down to the kick panel. I hid the 275 box back there and ran the Cat6 extender to a more convenient connection point.

Well not gmrs related but, I have a uniden cmx760 hidden cb setup. Basically it’s just like the midland Mxt275. If you open your glovebox, there ample room to put the small brains back behind. Mine is just to the left of the heater core and more behind the center console.
Ps… I’m switching to the mxt275 or higher powered model in spring next year. Yea!

Perfect, thanks.

There is a MTX575 coming out, as in it's on Midlands webpage, but not in stock. Looks like a great more powerful option at 50 watts.

I was tempted to wait, but honestly w GMRS antenna and height are the main factors (tho 50 watt will cut through trees etc better). With the 15 watt of the 275 the power draw is low and I like being able to run off the aux switch factory power runs. Not sure if the 575 will be able to, my suspicion is it will need more and a direct line.

And the 275 is $150 or less the 575 is $400.

My stuff shipped I'll post up when I get it installed.

if you are flexible and clever you can mount your 275 in the upper left corner of the driver foot well. There is a alloy horizontal brace there you can use self tapper screws to attached the mount to. then run the cables behind the carpet , pulling power from the glove box aux wires and using the mic cable extension you can have the plug mount next to the 4x4 shifter in the little nock between trans trim and the head unit trim.

super clean and out of the way, i just keep the mic in the glove box and plug it in when needed.

Looks great! Where did you find the bracket the mic clip is on?
