5 years in - still no tazer.
Relay for license plate lights, press button for ESS when I want to. Saved myself hundreds!

Anything sold to press that button for you will be fine. It's such a simple circuit, a couple of years ago someone on youtube showed how to make one for under 25 bucks. Wish I could find that video again! It was a simple timer circuit IC and one other chip, connectors, that was it.

To me it is well worth the money to buy something that automatically turns auto start stop off every single time I start my Jeep. Having such a device has been absolutely wonderful. If that was the only feature I wanted I would have looked at one of the auto-start-stop eliminators but I also wanted the licence plate light blackout, being able to switch on the rear locker in 2hi, being able to switch on the lockers in 4hi without requiring a series of other button presses (that I never remembered), and some of the other "non-menu live" features of the Tazer mini. For changing settings, though, (like gear ratio and tire size) I used JScan instead of the Tazer because the settings will remain vs going back to stock when the Tazer is unmarried. I do not need any of the features that require the Tazer to be married so mine remains unmarried. Yes, it was a considerable amount of money for these few features but if you divide it by how many days I'll own and use it, it comes out to be relatively inexpensive. It also saves me from speaking an uncountable number of curse words.

Do not go by the reviews on amazon, they are not real.
But sometimes they're fun! I like when the scam artists use a previous listing for a different product. You can try to figure out what it was from the reviews!

disable the HONK when you exit the vehicle while it’s still running.
I've gotten out 3 times, it only honked the first time. If something broke, I'm not going to fix it.

I once left, not making this up, a car running when my wife and I went on a cruise.
In high school, half way through the day an announcement came over the intercom: "There's a sliver [CurrentYear] Mercedes in the parking lot with dealer plates... and it's running." A girl in my class jumped up and says "oh, that's me, I forgot I was going to call my dad!"
We all knew it was her at "Mercedes", she was the daughter of the largest car dealership in the area and always drove cars that cost more than the next ten cars combined. She as also very very "blond". She had locked her keys in with it running. This was pre-cellphones, at least for most teens, so she headed to the office to call her dad, but she forgot before she got to the building.

I used a Autostop Eliminator and have been pleased with the results for the two years it has been installed. But I do have a Alpha OBD, and it does quite a few functions, but not some of the live functions of the Tazer.

On the other hand, I do need the three honks when leaving the Jeep running. I once left, not making this up, a car running when my wife and I went on a cruise. With over a half tank of gas, I figure that it idled for at least a couple of days. I absolutely could not hear it running. I have been almost deaf for nearly 50 years, a d the car had a very quiet exhaust.
That honk is there for a reason - and you can defeat it by not latching the door.
It's for safety - research has shown with quieter and quieter engines combined with the push button start and shut down, people are getting out after parking in the garage, and going in the house.
Ford's solution is to cut the engine after 30 minutes.
Jeep gives the honk.
It's to keep you from killing yourself or your family.
My son borrowed my truck, drove it to a store, parked it, and simply got out (and ignoring the horn maybe?) - maybe he thought the honk was for when he locked it.
Came back out and it was still running there.
He was used to his own vehicle - it shut off when you left it and locked it.

I got the Taser well and the Jscan too
It doesn't always turn off tag lights in reverse for me though. But, has several more functions. No experience with others.

Last week I had the Tazer disconnected for other unrelated reasons. No doors, no top while driving through the mountains on the way to some clients in Gatlinburg. As I was leaving the first stop, I got distracted by an old FJ in a parking lot. I started chatting up the guy who got out of it from my drivers seat with my foot on the brake. Truck stopped without me even realizing it. I had become so used to the Tazer and the start/stop being off that I legit almost jumped completely out of the non-existent drivers side door to take a better look at his FJ before the truck auto-started when I pulled my foot off the brake. Scared the shit out of me.
Kind of a reason I like simple. The vehicle is running it's running, open the door it stays in same condition it was before door opened.
Makes it a PTA for me to respool winch line. At bottom of my driveway put in N get out hook line to tree respool line while pulling up the hill.

When I first got my JT I did it once, I was use to taking keys out and in pocket to head in to work. :headbang: It was still running after shift briefing then I noticed as I was getting gear bag out. Now, I sometimes leave the keys in my Wrangler, the get to the door and no keys to get in. :headbang: I park it over by a shed to plug in battery maintainer.

I wasn't clear in how I responded there. I like and want the "honk". The Charger we drove to the port didn't have that feature, and with different, distracting things going on, I didn't remember to check to see if it was still running before we got out. My Gladiator has it, and it has prevented at least a few walk away with the Jeep running events.

I'm at a level of deafness, even with hearing aids, that some sounds are not audible to me. My previous car, a Challenger R/T, was too quite, even with dual exhaust. I got out once after cutting the engine off, tried to lock the door (it wouldn't lock) then started to walk away, figured it was well within view and I would see if anyone messed with it. It was only when I walked directly and closely behind it that I realized the engine was still running. After that, I changed the exhaust out for a couple years newer one that was sitting in the parts department and solved the problem. The '16 exhaust was pretty quiet, not so much the '18 exhaust system that I installed. It wasn't obnoxious, but it had a lower frequency tone that I could hear. Not really a big fan of tire fill alert, but my Jeep doesn't have it.

Long story short, I actually like the three honks. Not a big fan of tire fill alert, but my Gladiator doesn't have it.

We were at the gun range one day… I usually drive, but the hubby drove this time. I kept hearing a car running and I swore it was the car parked next to us.
My husband discovered, it was the Gladdy. 😳
**my hearing isn’t good/deaf in one ear

I don’t know how his BMW works when he gets out while running…. His BMW locks itself when he exits. He’ll be walking away (out of range) and I’ll have to say…. Hey…come back, we need to lock it!!!

I like the safety feature, too. Hearing aids here. These engines are quiet

Hopefully I don't derail this thread, but I'm curious why so many people want to disable the plate lights on reverse? I don't think I ever gave it much thought.

Glare at night on the backup cam when in reverse. It's not a problem on my 2025. They've changed something. In fact, the camera display is more like our grand Cherokee were and not like my 2020 or 22 JT camera. I think they have resolved the glare
Some people (the silent ones) never saw it as a problem anyway.

Even with the license plate blacked out the camera is very poor at night. I hope that, too, was fixed in 2025.

It was fine with added backup lights. No problem with my 2020 or2022, but if you didn't have great lighting behind you, you couldn't see squat.
The quality of the image is down - more grainy, more like the Grand Cherokees we've owned, but the brightness is better at night.
It used to be the JT image blew away the Grand Cherokee backup cam image - the sharpness, resolution was superior. Now it's more like the GC, not as great a resolution a bit more grainy, but sure a lot easier to see even at night.
