I am very happy with my 2022 Rubicon 6MT and have had no issues or problems with it, bought new in Feb 2023 now at 21k miles. I am stupidly considering buying a new 2024 Rubicon 6MT and would be very intersted in feedback from anyone who has actually owned both a 2024 and a 2023 or earlier. My reasons for considering this are admitedly petty and trivial.

Why I am interested in a 24:
- the power front seats
- the larger entertainment screen
- not having to hassle with the clutch recall that I haven't bothered to attend to yet (again no issues at all so far)
- nostalgia of it apparently being the last year of an MT in the JT

What I am worried about:
- getting hosed on trade in value, assume I will be out of pocket 10-15k but very interested in trade in values others have gotten
- the airflow of the vents below the larger entertainment screen seems like it would be worse than the huge circular vents we have on 23 and older models
- unwhittengly ending up with a lemon or even one that has minimal problems as we know there are many on this forum that have been unluckly while others like me have been mostly issue free
- rath of my wife (no forum feedback needed on this one)

so as you can see I am 4 v 4 on the decision which is why i post here

I recently did this with a '22 Mojave that had 24K miles at the time I traded it in. But mine has an automatic tranny.

I do not regret at all the change. The 2024 feels better in every way for what I was looking for.

Yes, it is a mistake from the financial side. I took a hit of around 11-14K depending on how you look at it. Trade value for my 2022 Mojave was 37,500. It had 24K miles.

Since I was financing, I managed to falsely hide all that with a better finance rate. Meaning, I pay a 100.00 more a month than I did before. Again, this is all just to feel good in my head... does not change the fact that it is a financial caos/disaster.

Besides the new things my 2024 has over the 2022, here is what I found:

  1. Suspension just feels better. I know it is because the Mojave X has different springs. But man! Much, much better. Not bottoming out like I did on the 2022.
  2. Steering had to be updated in some shape or form. Firmer steering, feels just a tad heavier and that makes it, for me at least, feel so much better on the highway.
  3. Wife loves the seats a lot more than the previous one (she liked those as well). I really can't tell the difference, since I also liked the previous seats. Yours is a Rubicon, I understand you have different seats than the Mojave came with... so, you will need to test that for yourself. Power seats is a joke since it has no memory... luckily, I am the only one that drives it, so it is set and forget.
  4. I got used to, and spoiled, by the new screen. I thought I was going to miss the round vents and A/C... nah! I really like this setup. Only thing is that on the 2022, I had one of the vents sending air to the phone on the Bulletpoint mount... now I get all the A/C.
  5. Wireless Apple CarPlay is great, but I always connect my phone to also charge it... so... well... lol
  6. Heated seats and steering wheel. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot sensors, backing sensors, etc. This is one of the main reasons I wanted the upgrade. I just like all that stuff for everyday and long trips. Not getting any younger and appreciate all the help I can get.

Also, not something that plays into your decision, but did in mine, is that I really wanted to start over once I finished the move from the old house to the new one. You see, I towed, I got stuff from Lowes/Home Depot, I really put the 2022 to real truck use... each round trip from Orlando to Ocala and back was around 175 miles. I made many, many trips with the bed loaded and pulling a trailer. Then the amount of 2x6, 2x4, panels, dirt, etc. that I would get to build the shed, make the raised planters, etc.

I would change the oil every 3K miles. Not changing that habit, it is just to say that I put the 2022 to work...

And to me, the Jeep was always something that I have wanted... so I was like, "man, now that we are here and there is no more beating the crap out of this truck, I would like a new one to treat it better..."

I will still use it from truck duties... heck, I am on my way to Lowes now, to get some dirt for planting a few trees... but it will not be to the level of use that I gave it during the move (a move that was done over a couple of years).

Long reply, not everything will apply... but hope that it helps.

This would be my take on each of your reasons:
1. Power seats are not the be all end all. Generally your seat position remains fixed anyway and I find the manual seat adjustments quite easy to use.
2. That screen is nice but you're not going to be watching your favorite show while you're driving. Eyes are on the road anyway.
3. That clutch recall will require 48 hours of your time and then you'll have a brand new clutch. Sounds like you're trying to find reasons to add incentive lol.
4. All 5 model years of the 6MT Gladiators will be nostalgic, yours no less!

Yours has been good to you.. I'd just keep rollin with the 22. I generally lean to the being practical side, but that's just my two cents

Prices are definitely different then when you bought your's me as a dealer is the manual in any wrangler/Jt from 07 and newer with a manual takes a hit they just don't bring the same money and honestly do not sell well. I own 7 Jeeps 3 are manuals and I love them but they just get beat up on price as far as trade value

I had a 2020 Gaser Auto, bought in February 2020, and wanted the Diesel when I bought it, but they were not available in Canada at the time. I was hard on my gaser, off-roading & driving fir work, and had to have both sides of the engine Camshafts & Lifters done. They refused to warranty it both times saying I’d tuned the engine. It was my own fault, as when I changed my original tuner to the Tazer, I didn’t remove the old tune correctly and that cost me almost $8,000 CAD for the repairs, never mind being without my truck the second time waiting for parts for over 5 weeks to get my truck back!
Then after having the dealership make a trade in offer to me, I blew up my rear end towing my trailer with my 5.13’s. I also had 89,000 Kms on it as I drive a ton for work. So I loaded the broken truck onto a trailer and traded it in as is, holding the dealership to the trade in offer they’d already made!
I got a 2022 JTRD and absolutely fucking love it! However, I found the window sticker in the glove box after my wife brought the truck to me at work to get her JLU Sport back as the whole scenario played out while I was five hours away and at work for almost a month. The whole trade was done over the phone and email.
I paid way too much for it, but I have the truck I want with a far superior engine (IMHO) and plan to have this truck for many many years to come! I currently have 78,000 Kms on this one now as well!
I’ve always said and followed the philosophy of, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” As stated by another previous commenter, your reasons sound a bit trivial to me as well, but you do you and who gives a shit what I, or anyone else here thinks about it!

23 Gladiator Rubicon to 24 Gladiator Rubicon X (both automatics).

Took a bit of a financial hit, got 43K trade in with 3700 miles, and the Stellantis 0% financing. Using other peoples money for 3 years for no interest helped a lot. In my area, I see they now offer the 0% financing for 72 months. They are trying to move Gladiators off the lots.

I did it mainly because of the 0% interest rate and the newer safety features.

If you are going to do it, do it soon because all the desirable models and colors will slip away fast.

I like the new 12.3 inch screen. The software is buggy, I lost my off road pages + trial adventure guides and trail logging apps. Uconnect can't figure out how to get them back for me. I have also had 3 over the air map updates failing to load in the last 8 days.

I hate the power seats. They don't have a memory recall setting. Thus, if someone else drives it and changes the seating position, it takes forever for the seat to be moved back to your position. The manual seats were a quick and easy adjustment. Power seats without memory are almost useless. The seats in the 24 feel firmer than the ones in the 23, and seem to have better side bolsters to help keep you in position on rough terrain, both are/were the nappa leather heated seats. To be fair, the seats are very comfortable in the 24.

Oh, and Jeep marketing says they had to do a lot of design with those seats to make them waterproof to keep the water fording capabilities. No worries about fording or hosing out the interior with manual seats. Also consider that the new power seats have more controls beneath them, which may preclude mounting accessories under the seats, such as on board air.

Overall I am happy I made the switch. It is essentially the same vehicle as the 23, with more airbags, a 12.3 inch screen, and more standard options plus the X package.

YMMV. Good luck with your decision.

I would keep what you have. The screen in the previous models are still large and the large screens will probably be available aftermarket at some point. The newer models has the entenna in the windshield. This matters because they will be more expensive to replace. The also don’t have mole seat backs. Unless you need a specific color and need to special order, it sounds like a terrible idea to take the hit.

Good points about the antenna and missing molle seat backs.

totally agree. that's how I came to get my 22 in March of 23 because they couldn't get rid of it. part of me is hoping as these 24s sit I can pull off something similar but may get less on mine for the same reason.

I’ve never seen molle back seats, nor would I care if my jeep had them.

The screen is pretty nice, the last 2” closest to you don’t do anything though. Also the vents are light years better on the 24 vs any other year. They don’t just hit you in the hand or are blocked by the steering wheel anymore.

the 24 infotainment is nice but its not lose your ass to get one nice. I get the appeal of power seats but how often are you really changing the position? a good compromise would be katzkins and get the ac type. that's what ill be doing next spring once some of the sting of all this crazy series of mods wears off.

I alread have leather seats I have tried 3 different seat covers on to protect them, but I digress, that's a different personal problem :)
