That's part of wheeling
its why I carry 4 spare axle shafts every trip. 2 Fronts, 2 rears.
Front's already have hubs attached for easy swapping.

Don't worry, it's not normal on lower level trails

Is Matt still defrauding insurance companies and AAA?
I always thought that was click bait and even if it was true I'm sure they simply settled for costs and moved on. If AAA went after him hard they would get huge blow back from their tow community and their margins are fat so why kick the hornets nest and piss off the people that make their service possible?

Stop posting this stuff. Makes me want to avoid off-road, haha. I'm already squeamish every time I go out in my DD.
It all depends on how hard you 4 wheel. Green, blue trails are easy. When you start getting into Red and black trails. You should have a built rig and experience. I've done most of the trails in Moab with a bone stock Power Wagon.

This is what I found. You can bet AAA dropped him.

Matt Wetzel, a towing pro in Utah whose business doubles as a YouTube content driver, has been charged with insurance fraud. The man behind Winder Towing and Matt's Off Road Recovery is accused of fraudulently collecting money from AAA, allegedly totaling more than $15,000. His arraignment is scheduled for next week.Dec 3, 2021

Those are spidertrax, most likely he just liked the way the wheels look and added the spacers. Properly made and quality like that they arent really any different than the right back spacing on wheels. Only extra stress is the extra track width but again offset would do that too
Exactly. I have spidertrax. I’m just waiting for someone to notice and claim I did something reckless. I will not allow tire shops to touch my Jeep though. Manual star and torque wrench. Very nice quality spacers. Plus I like my rubicon wheels and saved close to 2k on wheels. Not to say there is anything wrong with upgrading wheels. I wanted to spend money on gears instead. Not unlimited funds. :)

Gotcha the steels are black (at least from the pics I just looked up). I thought this jeep might have the steel knuckles since it was a diesel but I guess not.

Saw this the other day. Glad my diesel came with the iron nuckles and not the aluminum. Was a big worry for me on my jlur running anything bigger than a 35.
You would think of all the money in mods he spent he could have swapped those out for some of the iron racing knuckles on the market

Reid racing knuckles and some HD ball joints will run you about $1k. 2 Major fail points. Bet that tow out was about the same price as parts that wont fail.

But I dont see anything there that should snap the aluminum knuckles. Looks very mild at worst.

edit...

fancy shocks, bet speed was involved.

The driver said he didn’t use his lockers and was bouncing up and down. Ouch! Sounds like the skinny pedal did him in.
