I got mine a Hyundai Kona. Makes my JT look like and feel like a Benz. She loves to be a passenger princess even with the soft top. You could just tell her due to the current economy all you can swing rn is a korean made car with the budget given. take it from there.Mission if you choose to accept, Talk a woman (that I'm hitched to so I have to listen to gripes about the purchase years from now) that hates Jeeps (They're too boxy blah blah)into a 4 runner instead. She's wanting to lease but wants payments around $400 AND she hates the $4000 down.
Trading in her 2016 Cherokee that's got 93K miles and has been a bit of a shit box....
Mission Impossible here....
Anyone got ideas? Anything out there thats comparable to the 4 runner/Wrangler? Maybe I should look at Broncos?
we have a 2017 Ioniq Hybrid shit we get 500 miles a tank. we are at almost 150k miles too. The starter generator belt is a pain, I had to buy n $80 tool from England to change it but other than thats its been a very reliable car.I got mine a Hyundai Kona. Isn't the Explorer quicker? Probably by almost 1 second in the quarter if I had to guess. My wife is partial to the new Grand Cherokee but I couldn't live with another low HP / TRQ 3.6 so we settled on the Summit Reserve with the 5.7 Hemi. It is loaded with features that far exceeds our previous Ford Explorer Sport 3.5TT and it flat out hauls butt. Great vehicle so far. Might exceed your budget new but they have come available used. We bought ours with 7k miles.

Women's logic. You'll never figure it out. They think in completely different terms. She had a Forester Limited once before but eventually sold it because the monthly payments were too high. Covid were some tight times and the used car market actually gave her a profit on it.
Then she bought the lemon 2016 cherokee. It's had roughly 3 grand in repairs in the last 2 years so it's been a bust. She'd have saved money just keeping the Forester..
I'm still pushing the Bronco and 4 Runner but she's set on including the Subarus. She liked the nanny systems they have. I'm trying to make lemonade of it and trying to steer her to the Wilderness editions...... The thing that's got me scratching my head is that she says the wrangler and Broncos look too "boxy" but somehow the 4 Runner and Foresters don't elicit that same response.
I was comparing the features of the two, not the quarter mile times. Yes, both are quick. I still have the Ford. Guess I need to line them up and see what they do! LOL. Let's just say... Both are far superior to the 3.6 Pentastar.Isn't the Explorer quicker? Probably by almost 1 second in the quarter if I had to guess.

just posted what would keep within the OP’s budget. ??? Personally, we are looking at a facelifted model Y when it releases for my wife’s around town kid machine…. For mid $40’s and her longest commute being 4 miles…. Makes the most sense for us.
??? exception to solid axle policy… ????
