Yep. I am starting to wonder if I will regret not getting the LED'S on my recently ordered JTRD. I had given consideration to getting the steel front bumper but also had to get the KED package as well. My thoughts at the time was that I was planning on getting the Oracle heated Oculus headlights along with the Oracle taillights, reverse lights and fog lights.

However since I have placed my order I have started reading up a little more on the forum about their products and the issues they have had. I had mainly not wanted the factory package due to no heated headlight. So now I am thinking I may regret my decision here.

Do you get lots of snow because if so, you probably won't regret halogens. The bucket has a real problem with catching and retaining snow and the LEDs don't give enough heat to melt it.

Otherwise there was zero downsides when I upgraded after the fact to the mopar lights other than the halo wiring not being built into the loom.

Once you see how terrible the factory halogens are you will definitely regret it!

Having said that, I got mine without it as I didn't want to pay for the factory stuff.

I'm replacing my headlights with the oracle heated units at some point and I've already swapped all of the other bulbs out for led.

Very happy so far and I saved $700 or so (including the cost of the oracles)

My biggest concern is the issues that Oracle is having with the headlights. Doesn't sound like they have a fix for it yet. I can go ahead and replace all the rest. If nothing else I might just put in a set of KC's just to have everything LED.

After replacing all the halogens with LEDs -and- replacing the tail lights entirely, I think (from a $) perspective if I had to do it again I would just go factory LEDs.

Up to you if you want to DIY them later, but my wife drives a JLU with the halogens and I really need to replace them. They felt downright unsafe to me once I'd driven my truck with the LEDs.
Also saves you money on lightbars/ aux lights because there is almost no reason to add additional forward facing lights. The factory headlights are more than enough.

I think this whole snow in the LED bucket is really overplayed. I live in the NE, and the Midwest before that, and have never had buildup to any degree that I felt the lights were impaired. Granted, I don’t follow other cars closely.

Not saying it won’t happen, but it hasn’t been an issue yet…

The halogens are weak to say the least. The first batch of the heated Oculus lights have a problem, but we are waiting on a solution from Oracle. Hopefully they are able to overcome the issue for us. They really are great as lights.

My truck has the active safety group so backs already LED.

Takeoff DRLs: 200
Takeoff fogs: 100
New headlights: 750

Now that the 21 and up have pre-wired halo harnesses even on halogen equipped, it's cheap and easy enough to do after the fact. No rAgrets.

People are constantly ripping off their fenders and bumpers so brand new takeoffs of fogs and drls are always available.

The two options I'd absolutely get factory are front trailcam and aux switches. I'm collecting parts to add those 2 and it's difficult and expensive.

My first Gladiator was an Overland with standard halogen headlights. I never really thought that much about them until I traded the Overland in on a Mojave (that DID have LED lights) a year later. What a difference! I will never buy a car or truck with halogen's again!!

Aftermarket is readily available and easy to install, so no. My JT has the factory LEDs. I like them a lot. My wife's JK came with the halogens, and they suck (JL and JT halogens are possibly better, since they are 2" larger). It was about $300 and 45 minutes to upgrade them to LEDs, so no big deal. I only did the headlights on the JK, but taillights don't seem like they'd be any more difficult, just add another couple hundred $
