Thanks for all the pics, now that we're starting to warm up here I'm going to give this a try. This area is know for its winds, but I feel like my JT is louder then my JK was.

I have wind noise on my Wrangler from where the Freedom Panels meet the Windshield frame. I have adjusted the brackets to their lowest position so the panels are on tight. I have no idea how to stop the wind noise. When I put the soft top on the noise is a lot lower, so it has to be in the panels. I do not have this issue with my Gladiator.
I have a 2021 Mojave and I have the wind noise you have on your wrangler. It is not a huge problem but it is close to the phone microphone and is very noticeable. Let me know if you ever solve it. I tried tape over the seam where those panels come together with the windshield, did not help. Thanks

I really haven't noticed any wind noises from the cowl. Mine seem to be around the top of the doors or more likely the outer edges of the freedom panels.
The wife reminds me of the wind noise around the upper door areas every time she rides in mine.

So I read another post about being able to adjust the brackets the the freedom panels lock into. The 6 latches that rotate, their brackets can be adjusted up and down. The 2 snap latches can be adjusted forward and backward. I dropped the brackets to their lowest setting and evened out my freedom panels. The wind noise has been reduced to a tolerable level but it is still louder than my gladiator. To get to the brackets you need to pull down the plastic trim And you need a torx bit. Smaller than the one than in your jeep tool kit.

Cmon guys!!! you are talking jeep, if you wanted no wind noise you dont want a jeep, get a cadillac, wind noise and no doors and top is what its all about and can the heated steering wheel and seats, jeez where did the jeep experience go? I guess im too old, 81, i drove MB's and CJ2A's and loved it but i also wrote cursive and used a pencil and paper, my Gladiator Rubicon to me is the ultimate.

I'd agree low hanging fruit worth looking at, especially when you are using this vehicle for overlanding and long trips. I 've had a YJ with a softop, JK with hard, softop, and Sunrider. I was quite surprised at the wind noise/whistling I am getting with my Gladiator with a hardtop and freedom panels. However, it's still too low on the list of things I want to do to worry too much about at the moment. There are TSBs about adding some material in behind the windshield frame that may not be sealed properly. There are the mods to the roof and top like sound assassin strips and hothead liners to reduce buffeting and deaden the wind noise. Plus the additional things in this thread people are posting that may help some out. Thanks everyone for the ideas, keep em coming!

I have a long freeway drive next week so I'll try this. I have some RV Eterna Bond tape that should work great. Just hope i am not sealing an area that should be allowed to drain.

The Gladiator has just a single doors seal gasket compared to most vehicles. My doors gasket has tiny leaking spots through out. Easy way to identify them is after riding on a dusty trails. Open the door and you will see a ton leaks through out the doors gasket.

Did this with both vehicles. Drove the JT and didn’t notice much a difference. Will check my wife’s JL. Hers was noticeably noisier. Looking at the existing conditions, it’s not hard to see why, hers didn’t have the gasket below the window.

Looks to be an easy job. I'll try it. My wind noise is awful. Thanks!
It's not only wind noise, but when it's really cold out (i.e less than 30 degrees), my wife freezes even with the heater going.

I understand that. I've had a 73 CJ-5 and before that a 53 M38-A1, and they were noisy, but they didn't cost nearly $60,000.00. Jeep can do better, plus during cold days, as I mentioned above it works against the heater.

Yes, but considering the high-level price of 60k or more for a Rubicon, the research and development of these vehicles should be at a higher level as well.

Not sure what a Jeep CJ5 cost in 1970 but here is an interesting fact: 60k in 2023 was equal to this in 1970...

$462,634.02 (inflation rate of 671.1%)

I bought my new 73 CJ-5 in 1973 for $3500.00! My payments were about $125/mo if I remember right.
