Jeep Gladiator Windshield - Only lasted 2 1/2 Months Windshield

While driving home (New Mexico) from Moab, just outside of Durango, Colorado, I took a hit to the windshield.
Safelite is replacing it, with the Corning Gorilla Glass, for $50. Thank you Progressive!

It wont last. Ive been through 2 gorilla glass windshields. Each lasted 4 months (on my wifes JL). My Gladiator is just under 2 years old its about to have its 3rd windshield replaced. I live in NM as well.

Three years / 34,800 miles on my original windshield 🤣
Thats how my wifes 2019 JL was. 3 years with the original windshield. Every windshield after that has only lasted 6 months or less.

Rolling the dice it might go years or just days. 3-4 windshields in my 05 Wrangler, first one years until a deliberately damaged windshield... long story.
Replacement over 5 years it got cracked within a week on 565 in Huntsville within a mile of where prior windshield was cracked the same way rocks on road. Current windshield cracked.... don't leave a disposable butane lighter on dashboard area. :headbang:
Gladiator windshield about a year, clown speeding around and through traffic with construction on 565 in Huntsville. The jackass probably caused 25 or more of the over 100 busted windshields by throwing rocks. That event made news and new papers across Alabama.

A large wet rotten limb fell from overhead, on a wooded stretch where I was driving maybe 50mph and it impacted my 2025 JT windshield right in front of my face. Sounded like a gunshot in the Jeep. My ears were ringing for the next three hours.

Did zero damage. I was shocked it didn’t blow out the windshield. Not even a crack.

Good luck! I just replaced my 4th windshield in four years and I just went over 100k on the odometer

For whatever reason, when my wife took her's in for an oil change last, they noted it, told her they would change it for 100 bucks, and had it taken care of in 2 days.

No idea if that's a dealer thing or what, but she had just been living with it for months before then.

I went through two plain windshields in my 2020.
My 2022 took two fair hits that left chips but never cracked.
My 2025 has already taken a hit, with a chip, no crack (I'll contact insurance for a free chip fix but I'll be damned if Safelite is going to touch another one of our Jeeps after what they f'd up with my wife's JLU.

About the same, 40K on my original Gorilla Glass, got some chips, but no cracks, no bullseyes. One reason I like being in a part of MT that uses mag chloride instead of sand. We'll see out the underbelly holds up though 😐 Our Wrangler went from 3 windshields in 5 years with road sand to the same one in 15 years after moving.

Sand broke your windshield? The same sand that kids play in in a sandbox? Broke a windshield?

A chloride is a salt, give me sand over salt.

Don’t know if this will help, but I’ve coated my Gorilla Glass windshield with a graphene infused ceramic coating from Ethos. I use on every surface of my Gladiator except for the tires. Even windows inside and out. That even prevents the dreaded love bugs from sticking! Some actually glancing right off, along with any other types of bugs here in Central Florida. When it does rain it not only just repels off the windshield at highway speeds I almost don’t need the wipers! Plus the rain leaves all the windows cleaned! Plus all the painted surfaces. Those painted surfaces facing straight ahead, like the grill and edges of the hood and slope on the front fenders and headlights, plus rear fenders that also have the clear factory protectant, will all get a triple coat over three days time to allow each to cure. Just the fact I run through a new automated car wash at least once a week that also ass ceramic to the rinse, has kept the paint looking better than new. Just drop one on the extremely soft open pore micro cloth towel on the flat surface of the hood to see how the cloth just glides off. Now I’ve had a couple small pebbles get kicked up, or fall off a dump truck going over a bridge seem, that SMACKS but leaves no marks! Hope my luck continues. I’m due for my 60 month re-apply even though it still feels slippery to the touch.

It’s funny how it works out, live with a crack and it never gets hit again. Replace it and 3-5 months later you are living with a crack again, which never gets hit again until it is replaced

Yep, they're not exactly spending the $ to sift the pebbles out of the sand in a state with lots of roads and low population and shitty "sand". For the amount of time I spend on gravel (weekly, almost daily), it's a bit embarrassing that all except one of my cracked windshields were on pavement in the winter, worse for our cars. The one exception being a suicidal pheasant taking out my Tacoma windshield.
