Maintenance. First oil change at 2,700 miles. Tire rotation at 5,000 miles. Second oil change, tire rotation, and fuel filter at 9,700 miles. Blew the dust out of the air filter at 7,500 miles after we got back from lake Powell Utah. I'll do an oil change and tire rotation about 15,000 mile

I'm in hot AZ. My jtrd has been solid so far. I am concerned with the motor oil running hot. I feel like I'm having to baby it up long inclines. Hoping fca comes up with a warranty type fix. Probably won't happen. I do at least have an extended warranty.

My Gladiator Eco has been in the shop 4 times (in 1 year) and overheats when towing. I opened the hood vents. That stopped the "heat soak" issue when stopping for gas while towing.

It just started overheating driving from Vegas to Lee Canyon, not towing. it doesn't cut the power but it is concerning.

Would I do it again? Maybe? 14mpg while towing is sweet, my friend with a Tacoma and lighter trailer was getting 8mpg. He was following me so, the same speed, terrain, etc.
Funny how these reports are all over the board. I just towed my Camaro ZL1 1LE (3,800 lbs plus 2,200 lb trailer for a total of 6K lbs, or about maxed out) over 500 miles with my JTRD on a low 90's F day and didn't have any heat/derating issues. Engine oil temps/coolant didn't even leave the normal range I see everyday.

I did put "Water Wetter" in the coolant reservoir before I drove it off the lot new, but that shouldn't make a drastic difference.

It’s overheating but not derating? Care to elaborate there? What temps are you seeing then?

Oil temps over 240 seem to initate ECU to start limiting power at highway speeds. This is prior to a dash indication and Derate which is a limp mode. that seems to happen around 260 degrees.

A gentleman on facebook gets derates on his grand cherokee ecodiesel and he put a huge 3 row aluminum radiator in and it did absolutely nothing to help the oil temps. Our solution may have to be a full flow external oil cooler with fans :(

My oil and water get up into the mid-high 240s. I can feel it in the pedal but I don't notice a big drop in power.

I was driving in AZ a couple days ago, outside temp was 94 and everything seemed about "normal" as far as operating temps go (coolant low 200s and oil about 210). I stopped at a store for about 20 minutes then back on the highway at about 70 mph to head to the hardware store. On the way to the hardware store I noticed the temps spiked under similar driving conditions. Coolant went to 221 and oil to 235. I spent about 15 minutes at the hardware store then back home at about 50 mph.

Not sure why this spiked like it did, but it did come back down, could the stop impact this either time? The other thing I noticed in the two photos is that although the coolant and oil temp varied 20 and 25 degrees respectively, the temperature rings on the gauges are in virtually the same place.

You got a bit of heat soak at the hardware store. You stopped long enough to heat everything up, and nothing had a chance to cool off.
