Now it's like you got a brand new ride. Very nice set up.

Thanks. I might order one. Does this go below the factory top tray?
Yes, so if you lift up the part your arm rest on and that tiny compartment that's attached to that, it goes below those 2 pieces. So the opening to the main larger area.

I spent 20 minutes looking all over/under/inside the truck for a tracker… at night in the driveway, holding my phone every which way, looking like a total weirdo.

out of nowhere I got this alert on my phone and immediately thought of the posts of somebody’s Jeep getting stolen out of there driveway, suspecting they used an Apple AirTag to follow him home then hack the key signal.

this was after going to dinner, so pretty freaked out it showed the route and someone had placed it at the restaurant. And I didn’t get the alert while I was driving it was like 60mins after I got home.

well, after fruitlessly searching and searching and not being able to connect to any device with my phone, I finally realized that it said AirPODS and not AirTAG. Thought it had connected to wife’s headphones before but I guess not, and didn’t recognize them.?‍♂?‍♂?‍♂

I started a "bed power" project. I wish I had 110 back there but that's for another day.
This time around, it's for 12v and USB charging because I have a truck tent and like to have my phone, hearing aids and other stuff with me while charging, and the 12v will give me an easier way to use my portable 12v light without plugging into the adapter I have that turns the trailer connector into a 12v outlet.

IMO, the panel with outlets and switch was spaced too far apart for the truck's opening as purchased, so I made a new plate for the outlets and switch and volt meter. I moved things together closer and that allows me to cut less of the side of the bed out to make things work. Also, while making the new plate more narrow left to right, I made it a tad taller to more easily cover the edge of the bed liner after removing the square plug that covered the hole.

Maybe the pics will explain it better - still very much in process!

After my stupid accident with the truck bed installing the side rails, I got hyper-paranoid and careful this time around and left no room for stupid mistakes. (plus it's cooler, so no sweat in my eyes or on the tools, no wet slippery hands)

How to cut the hole larger where it needs to be without slipping, while making it even, and JUST enough to make clearance and not a mm more?
Lay it all out on a piece of wood, pre-drill the holes for the hole saw, screw the board to the truck bed......... keeping the screws out of the way of the hole saw.

I forgot to take a pic with the board in place before I did any cutting with the hole saw. This pic shows after I made the first two cuts and am moving the screws holding the board in place to the other corners I've already cut so I can cut the last two............

Screws moved to other corners, ready to use hole saw to cut the other two "reliefs" for the nuts that hold the outlets in the panel I made -

Messy, but a small shop vac will take care of that............. perfect cuts. Exactly where I wanted them (well., one was off maybe 1mm but who knows but me?)
You can tell by what's left of the factory panel holes in the side of the bed just how even things are or are not.

Before taking time to clean up my mess, make sure the panel will actually fit and clear the bed's metal ok and that it can be fitted squarely in the opening.......

Not too bad. No further trimming needed. And other than the lower right, they were all perfectly even.

The two screws in the block show how I initially got the wood block to stay put while I went to the inside of the bed and put the screws and fender washers in the corners to hold the block.
I put those screws in, reached up behind the wheel with the block, rotated a few degrees, then turned it so it was upright. The screws then held the block in place enough for me to get screws and washers in the corners. No helper, so I had to figure a way to make the block stay put.
Yes, kids, it involved some math - pay attention in your math classes LOL

I sprayed some texture on the plastic panel I made and will paint it.
I have not done any of the wiring yet I wanted to first see how possible my ideas were before spending the time wiring things.

Definitely not my best work. In fact, not at all happy with the panel. I need to make it a tad larger and re-position the screw holes. I'm right at the edge of the factory square holes and it's just not good. I like the spacing of the outlet, switch and stuff, but I should have made the square itself 1/4 to 3/8" of an inch larger and moved the screw holes that hold it on.
Seriously considering starting all over on this part.

Working on the wiring, will hopefully finish wiring it all tomorrow.

Added the Rock Jock Carrier Bearing Spacer tonight, the butt dyno says the ride is smoother, probably my imagination.
Geez it looks like tomorrow is undercarriage wash day.... ?
