i don't need to watch the video to tell you just hook a shop vac up to the oil fill port. The vacuum keeps the oil from draining out.. If you want to get tricky you have a friend modulate the vacuum so you can control how much oil pours out of the drain if you happen to over fill it.

Or just do what normal people do if needing to replace a drain bolt in the middle of a change interval. Drain the oil into a clean container and refill with the recovered oil after the drain bolt replacement.

People think they are reinventing the wheel with such parlor trick videos when they are not.

Pennzoil platinum ultra is $25.

If on the OFF CHANCE you need to replace a drain plug in the middle of a change interval. Something I've never done or heard of having to be done, and can't imagine why might need to be done, Id just change the oil for $25 and leave the filter.

Who has time to eff around with a shop vac or draining and replacing oil ?

You tube is very useful often but some of the crap on there is click bait BS. Like this.

Agreed. But I would change the filter as well. I get that it’s early, but extra maintenance isn’t going to hurt anything from time to time. With the valve instead of the traditional drain plug, I genuinely enjoy changing my oil.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to replace a drain plug and couldn't wait to do it at a regular interval.

Because it's zero.

The usual issue is that it's seized up or the head is stripped. You don't deal with that instantly, you deal with it at the next interval. And if you get in a situation where somehow you can't wait, you might as well do a full change anyway out of prudence.

I mean, that's all fine and well but you can get a top down oil change pump from Harbor Freight for under $100. Takes a little bit longer but you don't get underneath at all and it makes far less mess.

I have one for vehicles like boats where you can’t access the drain plug, but I’d prefer to drain it. That way you get everything out.

Top down oil pump…….. umm…….heavy stuff like metal sinks to the bottom. Kind of defeats the purpose.
I get it for inboard engines where you don’t have much of a choice. But what’s the point, just change filters and top off the oil , would be about the same thing.
