Spoiler; Gas stations require electricity too.

I also own an VW iD4, all electric and it’s great. Costs me around 3 cents a mile to drive while the Gladiator costs around 23 cents a mile @ $4.25 a gallon. A year later, our battery is just as strong as when we first received it. Fast Charging is really, really fast - I can get 200 miles in 40 minutes. Sure, this is longer than a gas fill-up but I simply tie it to picking up some groceries, a bathroom run, a quick phone call, etc etc.

I think more people should have an EV for around town driving and short trips and an ICE or PHEV (4xE) for long trips for the next 5 years. WIthin 5 years, faster chargers will be everywhere, including trail heads.

People can fight the take over of EV over ICE, but it’s going to happen. All it takes is Cali to truly go through with the ICE ban and you won’t be able to purchase an ICE in America because the companies aren’t going to make both ICE and EV for too long.
There has to be a balance between what we desire and want do, and what we are forced into doing.

What about power outages and mandated blackouts? Then what
Well, this may surprise you, you won’t be able to fill up your gas tank during a blackout.

A less snarky reality is that my EV is almost always nearly ‘full’ while my ICE ranges from full to near empty often. Being able to charge at home has enabled a full charge every morning before work. Gone are the days of ‘oh shit, I need gas’.

You aren't buying the proper brand of battery operated yard tools then. I had the same problem. Fresh batteries every spring. Then I changed tool brands 5 years back and haven't bought a new battery since.
Huh, I've been using the same 18V Ryobi battery since the early 2000s. I bought more, sure, but I still have the original yellow battery from my cordless 18V drill. Works great.

If you can remember to charge your vehicle surely you can remember to put gas in it.

OR, I don't need to make another stop to fill up, that's the whole point I was making but you know that, you're simply trying to be combative.

With that being said, I am done with this argument. I wish you the best in your fight against the future EV Overlords.

I didn't know that was your point and I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I was just saying it's not hard to not run out of gas or to know you need gas. I'm not arguing or being combative. I guess that's a theme we see today though.

In the right home, with the right commute, with an ev, you'll never even have to make any extra stops to "refuel" your vehicle, just plug it up when you get home. I get it. I don't currently own an EV, but I'm certainly open to it, when the time comes again for me. But I just want it to be in a traditional bulky/ridiculous looking Wrangler. This one is too "refined" in appearance for me. I like the tech though. I'm sure they have to make a lot of concessions for the aerodynamics on this one, in order to achieve the mileage targets. This one just looks too Wagoneer or Grand Cherokee-ish for me, and not enough like a classic jeep. I like it though, just not for me. I'm hoping they give a real Wrangler this treatment too.

All good, no feelings hurt, I just don't have an appetite to argue with strangers on the internet :)

Yeah but I can store gas for a while. And what about mandated blackouts? California is banning charging evs at night certain times.

I hear you for sure. I just live in a place that has too many people to really consider everyone going electric. Meanwhile they are actually taking backwards steps towards being able to do so, while at the same time pushing it. I wouldn't really care if my Gladiator was electric. If it looked like it does now i would be fine with that. But i would need to be able to charge it without getting text messages telling me to stop using my electricity 3 times a day. Also the price would have to be right on charging it vs. fueling it up.

DISCLAIMER : THIS IS NOT POLIITCAL I AM SIMPLY TALKING ABOUT WHERE I LIVE AT THE MOMENT.

People Work?
Anyone who's banking on solar for life sustaining power needs to take a good hard look at the year of 1816.
Seems like a really long time ago, but it's a geological millisecond in reality.
1601, 1783, and 1883 were a few others not that long ago.
Volcanic ash probably isn't that great for wind turbines either, given how much respect airlines give it.

A lot of people keep talking about 'charging at home'.

It's almost like they're completely ignorant that millions park their cars on the street because they live in apartments. Gonna be 1000 extension cords on every main street?

I wish hybrids were still developed. They've given up on them and they are truly the most useful. Pure EVs suck.

Bought another new battery for my cordless hedge trimmer and leaf blower yesterday because by the end of year two they'll only run about 5 minutes on a full charge.

Pretty much every cordless rechargeable thing I have is like that.

Then there's the underpowered grid nightmares of Texas and California that make you wonder why they keep pushing EVs when they don't have enough power to run the ACs.

For now I'll keep pumping and enjoying longer drives interrupted by five minute refills.

Just call me Jedediah ??‍♂
All I have to say is ...... Milwaukee M18 anything and everything.
