I have a "friend" that was having issue with his JT Diesel Overland while towing. When he tried to get the dealership to address the P00AF error code among others, they said what ever he was doing was demanding too much and if he continued it is likely FCA will deny his warranty. This was not a engine overheat issue as oil temp was below 240 and outside air was 70F.

Has anyone had warranty deny issues due to trailer frontal area being to large?
-as of 9/27/22 no one has had this warranty "threat" issue

With FCA spec on trailer frontal area it basically impossible to tow any camper except a pop up. I am also curious what the difference is between the models that would change the frontal area spec of a Overland and a sport. Grill opening size?

Its the lack of the towing package that comes with the Sport S and Mojave. More power, bigger alternator. I am not SME but that is what I am seeing.

The dealer can speculate, but unless you tell them that you are and what you are towing, they're just fishing for a reason not to do the work. Find another dealer. When you take it in, tell them there is a problem that needs fixed. Don't tell long stories or offer information that is not requested.

Can you ask your "friend" what his model year and mileage is, if he has other codes (like P226C), and if the dealer has done anything so far to attempt to clear the code?

Might be useful to get your "friend" on here directly.
I will ask my "friend" what additional codes were thrown. So far the dealer has only updated software and claims there are not malfunction codes that say any components are bad. They just say the codes indicate the engine is being pushed to hard.

Talking to a dealer is like talking to police, a lawyer, or a judge. You give them absolutely as little information as they absolutely need. You never pontificate or add context unless it's absolutely necessary.

"Truck has CEL" is what i would tell a dealer if i were in that person's shoes.

This would be a major point of pushback if a dealer were to tell me something like this. Who, what, when, where, why, and how? I may never give a dealer any information, but i want it all from them, and then again in writing.

Are you sure this is what the dealer is actually saying? Or is this just how your friend is interpreting it and then relaying it to you (with some added frustration)? I'd get your friend on here, these games of telephone rarely help.

Not trying to defend the dealer at all at this point, but the facts here could use some clarity. Or you/your friend could just go to a different dealership for a second opinion rather than play runaround games with the current one (and with us).

On a quick google search of the CEL. Boost sensor, turbo charger, boost control module, adjusting the vane within the turbocharger.

I have met people elsewhere online that talk of themselves in the third party. Not saying it is the case here but a few details make it seem that way to me. Makes how you answer or try to help people somewhat difficult or cumbersome if you are answering directly or to some actual third party that info is going to be passed on to.

Like when people talk to themselves because they are asking for an expert option.
