Mojave. V6. Automatic. 315/70R17 STT Pro’s. Want to go to 37. Factory 4.10:1 gears. I want 37’s, same tire.

I’ve already spent just over $35k on Jeep upgrades and accessories. Do I really need to regear? Do I need HD ball joints? Do I need hydraulic steering? Do I need chromoly axle shafts and new driveshafts?

Opinions are like a-holes and I know everyone has one…let’s hear yours.

Should be another option. I ran 37s with and with out regearing, it was fine in Florida on flat terrain even towing, it sucked in the mountains and steep grades. So it being fine depends on the terrain.

After regearing though, best 2k I've ever spent.

So with a sport it is a slippery slope. Regear? If you're in there why not lockers. Oh lockers and regear? Why not move to dana 60s then we could slip on 40s rather than 37s

Thus I still sit on stock tires.

You’ve already spent $35k, what’s another $5k? ?

Of what you listed, gears would be my #1.

How do you like it with 35s and 4.10? Think it can handle a 5% reduction in final drive ratio by going from 35s to 37s? That will be about 100 RPM at highway speed. Does it cruise in 8th ok?

To be clear on my vote, if you’re mall crawling on 37’s, don’t bother. If you’re using it off road, trailering, live at high elevations, live in an area with mountains/hills, regear or stay with 35’s.

I have 37's and still on 4:10 gears. I am deciding whether to re-gear to 5:13 on the existing D44's or save up and get some Currie D60's with 5:13's. I don't do heavy wheeling, but even on what I've done I stalled in 4LO which never happened on 33's. The Currie's would also set me up for if/when I ever do a hemi swap or blower. I just don't have $12k right now, but also not sure if I want to invest $2k in gears that would maybe get sold off anyway... decisions, decisions.

It's way more bearable than an undergeared gasser but I'd argue it would still greatly benefit a regear.

I'm on 5.13s in my TJ with the 6 speed and 37s.

I'll be doing 4.56s in the JT EcoDiesel on 37s, hopefully sooner than later.

Do you need to Regear? No.
Should you Regear? Yes, definitely if you wheel that thing.

From the picture it also looks like you got a little bit of weight. I definitely recommend it if you ask me. Just my opinion. I have 37s. Mopar lift. And a bit of weight like you.

I like the responsiveness of the 5:13 gears so that’s what I went with. But I’m sure 4:88s are great for 99% of people.

Your motor will be happier. Less load on it at all times, which mean no matter what the engine will last longer.

Edit: as far as all the other HD hardware. Well do you wheel? Like actually wheel pretty hard? Not just overland. If not, then you are probably fine and I would just beef up components as they start to show they are the weak link, or it breaks. But no need to just blow money to say you have it.

I’m on 37s on a sport s with 3.73s. Granted I went with a pretty light setup at just under 100lbs per corner. After installing the tazer and calibrating it’s actually not that bad. But 5.13s are going to happen here in a few months.

How about about a list of mods on your truck? That is one nice rig!

I have a Sport S automatic with 3.73, 37s, tazer, and a HikeIt throttle controller. It does ok but 5.13s are definitely in near future plans. Granted I live In Louisiana and do not wheel. On Highway it will stay in 7th gear at about 72-73 mph a lot but it does drop down to 4th gear on some larger overpass. Transmission temp never got above 195 on recent 3 hour road trip.

I am currently running 37's with stock 4.10's. I have driven and wheeled up and down the east coast with this setup. I get decent mileage on the road and I see 8th gear on the highway more than what seems to be the norm. With the Rubicon 4.0:1 transfer case wheeling in 4 low is fine. However, I will eventually regear to 5:13's since I notice lack of power in 4 High off-road.

You definitely don't NEED any of those things. It really just comes down to what you WANT to do. Base if off of the intended use, and that should help guide you in the right direction.

You'll be fine without steering upgrades, but maybe you don't like how it feels... so then you'll want to upgrade.

Same with gears. Only if you want to. If you feel like you want more responsiveness, then a regear would be ideal.

Everyone's situation is different :)

I'm on 40's and stock 3.73 gears and stock steering, stock axles, stock ball joints, and I've got more weight than most people in the back. But mine is also a diesel and it feels totally fine and performs great :)
