Unusual request. Something has crawled into my JT and died. Probably a mouse. Strongest smell coming from the read of cab. Any ideas of potential entrance points or final resting places? We've searched (including cabin filter, etc.) but haven't found yet. Smell dissipates when truck is moving.

Thank you.

You can try to check the vents in the rear of the cab. Maybe use an inspection mirror from the outside since they are well hidden.

Thank you. I couldn't tell from online searches whether those were actual working vents. I will look there because that would be a logical place. Thanks again.

Wish you luck. My aunts Datsun became the rat mobile after the untimely escape and death of her pet hamster. It was found years later in the headliner. Perfect oven for him to bake in during the Florida sunshine.

I had one get in an ac vent tube in an S15 truck I had. It made itself known on a hot afternoon on the way home form work. Flip the ac on high and what a surprise. I stopped by my dads house and used his driveway to find it as there was no way possible to go any further. Had to disassemble the whole dash to get it out. I washed out the vent tube as well as possible but it was still horrible for awhile.

Also not the rear, but maybe the air box?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I saw on Amazon that they have a version to remote "elderly odor". That's harsh. Thanks again.

To get rid of the dead mouse smell. You need to put a piece of rotting whale meat in the cabin filter vent. This will make you forget about the dead mouse. ?

Oh geeze... just like that dead whale smell...it's never going to go away. Will pop its smelly head back up every now and then ??

No advice, just came to say be glad it doesn't smell like dead whale. Hope you find the source.

You will forget a lot of things over time. But one thing you will never forget is a smell. It will stick with you for life.

Besides....that thread was classic.
