The reason you like this thread is because the false sense of attention you get is what floats your boat. Facebook is a great platform for that, and that's where you and your ilk belong.
I haven’t used the term since retirement, but you and a couple of others have the “Napoleon syndrome” thing going on. The belief that you should be able to control others and things above your pay grade.

On a conciliatory note: How common is the death wobble issue? Is it a realistic fear if you maintain and never modify your vehicle? Are certain vehicles more prone than others?

Seems that I recall a snide remark one of the titans in the auto industry made not long ago in a news article. He quipped that they’d spent millions of dollars to test a slight lift for a vehicle and some guy comes along and jacks it up another three inches, etc.
I'm by no means a hardcore jeeper. But I've had 3 Wrangler/Gladiators. A 1997, a 2016, and the 2021 gladiator. The 2016 has never shown any signs of DW. The 1997 did once. But it was the ball joints going bad. The 2016 has never had the kind of unstoppable resonance that I'd consider death wobble, but it a little less stable on rough roads than desired when we got it (used). It also turned out to be ball joints. My 2021 had death wobble in about November this year, but I'm sure it was my fault from when the spacer lift was installed. I went back through everything and torqued everything back down to spec, and it went away.

It's (almost) always a maintenance issue or worn parts.

You have no idea what my pay grade is or was. Why do you not just go away into the good night saying nothing. You sold your Jeep, you bought another vehicle, and yet here you are running your mouth.

I think there's an assumption these days that if you don't go out of your way to mention your military service, then you must not have served.

Kind of like veganism.

I’m confused? I thought you same guys wanted the thread to die? And for everyone to quit talking in it?

Pretty much this. Throwing out your military service like it is a extra qualifier when the subject at hand has nothing to do with it is a bit cringe.

This thread is wild. Like... I don't want to click it and come in here, but at the same time I do.
Quality entertainment for sure.

That’s another disingenuous comment and shameless dig at me.

I said early on in the thread that I felt unsafe in the Gladiator at interstate speeds and tied that to my PTSD diagnosis, which is connected to my military service. A military vehicle accident if you desire to split further hairs.

And, of course, I could throw in for added measure that one of the data fields is your “occupation.”

As the OP, I can’t claim to be labeling this thread as entertainment. It’s more of a romanticizing the apocalypse effect for me.

My reply was not to you, but if you want to connect the dots that way, that is on you.

I will be honest, I have not followed the whole thread post by post so your "PTSD" is lost on me when I made my reply.

The fact this thread has gotten past page 2 has more to do with trying to "win" something on the internet when they are not going to put it on your gravestone when you die.

I served from 1967 to 1970 in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer [Pioneer] which is to my understanding now called [Sapper]. Yet, I do not go out of my way to speak of that period of my life and of the things that I saw and did... I am not going to forget it, even now in my mid 70's, I cannot unsee what I have seen, and undo what I have done. Anyone who ever sat on a bunk in Building 590 at OAB while waiting for a bus ride to Travis knows of what I speak. They also know of the return to OAB, those who did return, and how we were treated for serving our country at the airport, and in the towns and cities we returned to. I learned something else in the Army. It's the quiet ones you want to be aware of, because they probably have the most to say, and you are not going to want to be there when it's said.

USAA isn’t your friend, it’s a sham play to make money from those that served.

The winter of 2014 in Pittsburgh my spouse cut two tires and broke one rim on a 2013 Subaru Impreza hitting water-filled potholes.

The broken rim episode occurred at like 10 at night and the outside temperature was like 16-degrees. I called USAA to get the tire changed, unclear about how damaged the rim was? The call went nowhere and I changed the tire myself while dressed in dinner attire, heels, etc.

The next day, we drove it to a Suburu dealership and got a damage assessment. Cut tire, cracked rim. I paid nearly $500 to replace the items. Never filed a claim with USAA.

Fast forward to 2018. I buy a house in Florida and call USAA for homeowners insurance. They inform me that they don’t insure homes in Florida. So I’m like, “eff you,” and cancel my insurance. I then move to Allstate and discover that USAA charged me with an accident and had upped my rates for years merely because I made the phone call for the roadside assistance. I actually got charged with the accident for making the phone call.

The insurance industry says that hitting a pothole or object in the road is an accident, your fault. Not defensible In any situation.

So no more USAA for me. It took a long time and many phone calls to get my record cleared.
Well, sounds like an odd event that could have been cleared up if you contacted them.
??‍♂. If paying as much as you do meets your needs ??? good luck out there!

As an investigator, you no doubt know that plenty of the so-called “quiet ones” have learned that behavioral trait, right? They even use it on the pathway to their disability claim with the VA. A lot of “I don’t want to talk about it, seen bad stuff,“ jive.

Then you get to the harsh truth. People like me had them mopping sunshine off the grass, or they were scrubbing bugs off the windows of planes before they got booted. Or like today’s headlines, all those wannabe Navy Seals who ended up chipping paint.

And lots of women have 100% disability ratings, some men too. Not because they were in the thick of the sh*t, but because they got raped by bozos that should never have been let in, etc.

So military service at face value means nothing. What’s on your DD214 tells the story.
