I added the DD SS3 to my JT before our road trip last summer. Best investment I made to the JT. Back in the day all my vehicles had Hella 550 Fogs that we used all winter long in the snow. I miss those but the SS3 is a strong contender. I actually just got a second set with bail brackets to put on the bumper of my JK.

SS3 LED Fog Light Kit for 2020-2021 Jeep Gladiator

for me, that selective yellow is great - the contrast really helps when there's stuff in the air blowing around. You avoid that Star Trek Warp 9 effect.
Do you have them wired back into the factory wires/switch?

I ended up ordering these with a clear lens.

And then a set of these in amber which will work good to protect the clear glass lens anyway and allow for modular abilities

i think this combo will work really good.
That's the benefit to both BD and DD, the lenses are swappable. The only caveat is that DD selective yellow LED's are 5,000k and with a clear lense will more closely reflect daylight rather than the 6,000K blue. Baja's may be the same way, I haven't researched enough.

Baja uses 5000K for the lighting color. I firmly believe that DD is a copycat of BD lights. BD lights have been around quite a while, started in 1992. DD ‘started’ in 2003 but only recently have gained popularity. And their first modern lights were almost a replica of some older BD lights.

I'm not going to debate DD vs BD, we'll just be beating a dead horse. Both are great for whatever reasons one chooses.

oh I am not knocking them. They seem to have some really great products and a lot of happy customers. But I already have a bunch of other BD lights and wanted to keep consistency.

I was originally hoping to just retain the factory LED fog’s but I think its just easier to go aftermarket considering a front bumper is on the way - and it gives the option for a amber rock guard or removing it for a clear lense.

Another vote for lamin-x.
  • Just as yellow as using native-yellow bulbs, and just as effective in rain/fog
  • Adds protection to lenses
  • Piece of cake to install
  • Fraction of the price of replacing the units
  • Easily revert, if I change my mind

Agreed 100%, consistency is nice! It's a shame that Jeep hasn't partnered with an aftermarket light manufacturer yet, like Ford or Toyota has.

I ran lamin X on my old car which had bi-xenon's stock so getting a 3k DS3 bulb was not possible. It was great to have the option asyou mentioned to go back to stock whenever needed.

I’ve seen people just put some laminX over them and have good results.. haven’t seen any covers that fit the OEM lights though..
Yup, been using Lamin-X for almost 20 years, great product and material

It's been said a few times, Lamin-x is what I used. Super quick, super cheap, easy application.
