My 2020 Gladiator is having issues while towing. Its the overland package and it has the maxx tow package on it with 3:73 gears. Auto trans. I tow a 14' travel trailer or a sxs on a single axle trailer. The truck does fine on flat ground but when I get into the hills, It really struggles to maintain hwy speeds and overheats while going up hill. The temp immediately drops back to normal temps as soon as I clear the top of the hill. I am looking at regearing the truck pretty quickly because of this. I am going to go with the 4:88's. That is what Yukon Gear is telling me will be the best gear for me. Has anyone experienced the overheating issues? And does anyone have 4:88's that can give me some feedback on the performance of them.

With 3.73 gears, it is not the Max Tow option. Max Tow has 4.10 gears. You have the regular towing package.

What is the total weight you are towing when it overheats?

This. Also, did you add the receiver hitch yourself or did it come with it?

If you added it yourself then you don't have the HD cooling option either.

You are correct. After a little research, I have the 2TG Tow package. Here is a link to the specs on it.

My Sxs is close to 1800 lbs + the weight of my trailer. I would say no more that 2800lbs. My camper weighs under 2000lbs soaking wet and fully loaded.

So it looks like I have everything the maxx tow has minus the 4:10 gears and the factory brake controller. I have installed a aftermarket brake controller.

Max tow has different axles, too.

What tire size is that in your profile pic? 35? 37? That size of tires with the 3.73 gears is likely the source of your problem.

There's been someone here (maybe @Gren71 ?) who took a lift off and went back to stock tire size in pursuit of ideal towing behavior.

If you want to keep that tire size, need to re-gear.

With everything you've said I wouldn't think it'd have any problem at all towing that. Might consider a coolant flush.

I do have the widetrack hd44 axles under my jeep. They are 35's. I bet that guy that took his lift off drinks bud light as well.

I'm getting pretty close to 50k so I need to do that and maybe look into a transmission flush as well?

It definitely Struggles up hill. It has zero power when this is going on. It wont down shift at all in manual or auto mode. I really hoping that the regear will solve the issues.

WTF? Why would you insult someone you've never met? It's a random dude on the internet trying to get his Gladiator to perform the way he wants it to, same as yourself.
