I like the aesthetics of the 12.5", and even like a little "poke". But I can see the more practical benefits of the 11.5"... especially at the precipice of a snowy winter....
Might stick with my stock 33's till Spring.

just ordered Nitto MT's in 35x11.5/17, C load, like 67# or so. Will fit my Willys wheels perfect, barely poked, plenty of performance. Adding 2"lift

I'm running 37 12.5 17 Kanati Trail hogs on mine with stock wheels and they did great the last two weeks in the snow we got here. Did great on ice as well and in the rain. I ran 315 70 17 BFG KO2s before I ran the 37's and had no issue with those either. I like bigger beefier tire personally and love the stock wheels, but I will probably be switching them out soon.

I thought the guy at the tire shop told me I couldn't mount a 12.50 on the stock rims..now I'm a little peaved .

You will have ZERO problems with 12.5” wide on stock rims on the Mojave.

there will be a handful of naysayers that will jump in this thread and tell you that you will explode and die. Ignore them.

35x12.5 on stock wheels:

Correct. I ran 37x12.5 on my factory rubicon wheels for a year and a half. Here are the trails I successfully completed without issue. I did have 1.75” spidertrax spacers, but factory wheels. I put them through a lot. And aired down as low as 13psi without losing a bead.

He wasn't lying, officially 12.5s should be on 8 inch rims according to tire manufacturers and some shops stick to that. Now unofficially 7.5 will hold a 12.5 just fine.

It’s only moved over 1/4” on each side. It’s a poor man’s beadlock. :).

I have the Toyo 35x11.5 on AEV saltas and they have been a great tire. For me the 11.5 just made more sense. Here was my rational:
-lighter weight
-C rated (on road ride quality)
-3 peak winter rated (I live in MN)
-slightly more narrow, better on road (less tracking in crevice's) and in snow
-solid AT tire, tread wear guaruntee

I was also considering a KO2 and the goodyear ultraterrain. I'm happy with my choice and think they look great too.

Can you supply backspacing numbers on these?? " AEV saltas". I think your set up is locking in the 11.5s I want for my 23 Sport I pick up i a week. I been wanting to come inboard from the 12.5s I have on the Wide Tracks I get with the MaxTow ( both 20 and 23) . Do the come with only on back spacing option??

Yes, that backspacing is the only option from AEV for their JL/JT specific wheel.

The backspace and offset work very well for these trucks. You have clearance on full turn in and the tires tuck into the fender at full flex. The 35x11.5"tire and AEV salta worked very well on my sport

I'm on my 2nd JT and now running AEV borah beadlocks and 37x12.5r17 KO2s.

Now considering the same with my Black Rhino 17 " Primms. Currently have 35 X 12.5 17 E Nitto Terra Grapplers on a 9.5 in Rim. Considering going to the Falken AT4 in 35 X 11.5 17 C. My concearns are the Durability, Load caring capacity and on road handling of the "C" rating, being less plys. Anyone make a similar switch and experience any issues?

I'm also considering the Toyo Open Country AT3 35x12.5x17 vs the 11.5. It seems that the 12.5 are actually a little lighter compared to the 11.5 (59# to 63#).

Ordered the AT/4 Wildpeaks. 35 11.5 17 vs my Nitto Terra grappler G2's in a 35 12.5 17. For those who have made the switch to a more narrow tire with a "C" rating, what can I expect going from a E to a C, in regard to load capacity, handling and ride?
