nice rig that looks awesome
Thank you! I’ve had nothing but a great experience and ride with the MC GC. The gap in the front is a lil huge since I did a fender chop.

otherwise, I have been truly impressed with it. I also changed out the drive shafts to a Tom Woods, and upgraded the steering.

It rides hella smoothly! If you do proceed with the lift, I recommend upgrading the steering, with the sector shaft brace, then with the 1-2 ton steering by synergy. I also upgraded the rear sway bar with Hellwig HD to help it stay more sturdy for the highway driving.

I never go more than 75mph, but I can definitely testify that it’s been nothing but a smooth ride where you feel in control.

Having spent quite a bit seat time in various Metalcloak JT kits on the trail, my suggestion would be 2.5" Gamechanger since you're wanting to stick with 35's. Lots of flex, and it looks good with 35's. If and when you upgrade to 37-38's, just swap coils.

How does it do on the Highway? Did you get rocksport shocks ? Or adapter or factory

Highway mannerisms are great, in fact I've done a bunch of long hauls in ours to Moab, Flagstaff, Socal, Oregon and it drives real nice. We run Rocksports on the overland built JT and 6paks on the rig that tends to see more technical trails. The Rocksports are great and have an extended length to match the free length of the springs. The new reservoir shocks that are coming out are even better, but are a performance high-end shock for those that warrant it. (available soon).

Did you have to replace rear driveshaft?

If you have a rubicon/Mojave get the 2.5 any other trim get the 3.5. Either lift on any trim you won't have any issues with clearance. It's just if you get a 3.5" lift on a rubicon/Mojave with 35s you will have a big gap gap between the tire and fender.
Here is my build:
- 3.5 Metalcloak GC
- King Shocks with Adjusters

I decided to roll with the 35s since I don't want to regear (yet) and change out balljoints with 37s. I also Tazered the Mojave so it drives and shifts smoothly.

To compare, here is the same 3.5" Metalcloak Game Changer setup with 37's. If there is no interest in 37's in the future, I personally like the look of the 2.5" setup. Nonetheless, whatever you do will look good.

Ok I’m convinced going with 2.5 meta cloak …wish me luck on install lol
I put a 2.5 Clayton Overland Plus lift on my 3.6 Rubicon a couple of weeks ago and love how it rides and handles on the rough dirt roads and on the highway. I measured again this morning and I’m sitting just short of 3 1/2” taller now than stock. My decision went back and forth for a few weeks between Metalcloak and Clayton. I went with Clayton only because Metalcloak recommends replacing the front driveshaft. This was the first lift I’ve ever installed and I did it with a floor jack and jack stands in my driveway almost without trouble. The only issue is that one of the oem spring isolators popped off the new larger Clayton spring while I was stuffing it in and rather than start over with that spring, I was tired at that point, so I left it off. It now squeaks badly but it will be an easy fix as soon as the new properly sized isolators get here.

It now drives and rides so much better than stock. I haven’t had it far enough off road yet to give it a review, but I expect it to be great there also. I’ll add a picture with the stock Falken 285/70R17s. As you can see the JT looks are off with these tires but I’m still below 25k on them and then I’ll replace with 35s.

Correct, Metalcloak requires swapping the front driveline because of the amount of free length/droop that the front axle will have.

Clayton actually also recommends a front driveshaft also if you plan to go offroad. At least for the 3.5 lift.

You may be correct but my understanding is that it depends on the extended length of your front shocks. I ordered my shocks over the phone with Clayton and was told the factory shaft will work with my 2.5 lift and shocks. I've dealt more with Metalcloak than Clayton but they both have excellent customer service reps and they both make great products. I wouldn't be worried about buying from either.
