The Fox Business article doesn't mention that the framework agreement in question is from 2019. Still doesn't explain why Stellantis has taken so long to file the complaint.

This one has a bit more info in it...

Stellantis accuses California of 'underground regulatory scheme' (detroitnews.com)
A few months ago when this was simmering to the top, I remember reading an article that part of California's argument was that any prior discussions was with then FCA that did not carry over to when it became Stellantis in 2021.

I'm honestly not surprised. Jeep has been getting ridiculous with the pricing. $75K for an optioned Rubicon Wrangler? Silliness.
It’s outrageous. The costs of things in general have gotten pretty out of control in this phony ass economy.

My dad and I were just talking about this…he was mentioning how ā€œ littleā€ money he made when he got his first engineering job out of college in ā€˜87. He made about $40k to start. Adjusting for inflation, that’s $110,000 a year in 2023 USD (https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=40000&year1=198701&year2=202310)

In other words, I’m still catching up to my dad’s starting salary as of now and I’m 6 years out of engineering school.

It’s an interesting system to say the least. I won’t complain too much though. I got food and a roof over my head.

Well, since Stellantis filed their complaint, I am certain this will be cleared up very quickly, to the benefit of all involved.

Right?.....

Is there a lot of H1B visa types in your career field?

What does that have to do with this at all?
Because the whole picture is not mentioned.

Stellantis wants everyone to think it all is about CARB regs and such. But the plain fact is that WL sales are down sharply with too much inventory on dealer lots. This is a direct result of high MSRP pricing that excludes many from affording the product.

Yes, don't complain too much. In the US every $ that you earn is (maybe, I am just guessing) worth 75 cents. In my country it is just 40 ...

Didn't someone post an article not long ago that said Stellantis was restricting dealer inventory on some models in states that follow California emission laws?

Market is flooded with engineers these days. Not like the 80s

I was thinking about this and it could be a blessing. I think the reason is a joke but if it breaks the union I'm 100% for it. All unions have far out lived their usefulness they are now just jv government and in it only to line their own pockets.

The recent strike has shown their hatred for America so its time to boot their outdated draconian rule.

A Business always needs to make profit just like the union no one works for free. There is a balance to payroll and production output. I bet the auto manufacturers know what it is and They will cut production keep vehicle value high and layoff what they can. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. Not wise to bite the hand that feeds you.

This right here is something to seriously think about, and be thankful for. Lots of us Americans have an endless wish list. But we have things (not everything) way better than a lot of others. Especially if you consider ultra poor parts of the world, or places still truly living off of the land without even electricity or good well water. Always something to keep in mind.

Parts of it already have.
The Feds can't afford to give up California, even if it was constitutionally possible. California funnels billions a year into Fed coffers. If CA left the Union, it would be a bust. It's no secret, however, that more people are leaving CA than going in, including my wife and I who left in 2013 (both native Californians). Given that by some future date, all vehicles sold in CA (and my state) will be electric, it's somewhat moot.
