It's an OK motor, it has its issues, leaking oil filter housings, the 3-6 tick, and the occasional poor soul that experiences the dreaded valve-train failure.

I had to get mine warrantied for a leaking valve cover gasket, one of the more common failures (but failures in general are somewhat rare), so it is what it is. While I won't say I'm gentile with my truck, I do make sure I do the maintenance, so it's still a bit disappointing that I had an issue.

With that said, if I do blow it up, ideally the truck is getting a Hemi.

Aren't they all???
Basically what I meant is that I take it as it comes and do not fret over a possible negative outcome as inevitable over internet amplification of certain trends some people have.

Didn't think you meant anything other than that. Total agreement.

Mine has been going good to great so far, closer to 90 k than I expected in 3 years and a month. It definitely lacks the ummpf that my 4.0 has at about 255000 miles. I do try to take care of it though. I hope it holds up as well as my 4.0s Jeeps have and are doing.

Are you using sickest in the sense of it is very cool and good? That's the younger Gen term. AND I have no issues with the 3.6.. have one in a 2013 JKU with 110,000 miles and it is going great.. SYK. I am 1 of the IDC WOT guys and run a Banks Pedal Monster .. That really kicked it in the ASS; Lights um up on the Hit!
yes i am. and I am also in the WOT group. ?

Interesting. In spite of most available responses having negative connotation, it still shows about 86% favorable responses. Not bad for an engine placed in one of its heaviest applications. (Some Ram models and maybe Promaster being the only ones with more weight.)

I've got the same 3.6 mated to a 6 speed manual in my 2018 JLUR. It has 90k trouble free miles, and I've worked it hard between towing, off-roading, and spriited driving. (The manual is fun!).

I love it and am very confident it will last longer than I'll keep it, and I'll probably keep it a total 0f 15-20 years. My old JK's 3.8 was at 195,000 miles when I sold it and it was running like new. This Pentastar is a better engine, so no worries about pushing past 200k.

They were hilarious, actually. But from a scientific polling perspective, they are considered negative responses. I know it wasn't entirely intended to be scientific, entirely.

I do a lot of polling and surveying in my work, so please pardon the analysis. I can't help it. Lol.

In a Jeep or truck for that matter, I prefer an engine with low end torque over horsepower. The 3.6 develops both too high in the rpm band. I wish they would develop a gas engine specifically for the Jeep that brings the torque curve in much earlier and stronger. And no, I don't want a diesel.

I voted it's an OK motor. It gets the job done. But coming from a ram rebel that weighed 800lbs more, got better fuel economy even lifted on 35s, was much quicker, and sounded immensely better, the JT would be much improved paired with the 5.7L hemi. The 6.4L is overkill much like the price tag they imcluded with it in the JLs. Just a base 5.7L is better in every way at powering a truck this size.

And you know about the Internet and forums,............=support groups, magnets for those with problems looking for solutions, or to vent, or "me, too", that sort of thing. If there's a place to complain or go with troubles, we'll find it

The 5.7 would be great!

I personally would stick with the Pentastar for its durability, longevity, and reliability, however, the Hurricane I6 would be just right for this thing, IMO. It should be light weight, pull like a 392 from idle through redline, and deliver superior fuel economy, to boot.

I was a little surprised they didn´t throw a 392 in these at least for a limited run, though.

If the Gladiator sticks around, I would bet we´ll see a Hurricane option somewhere down the road.

I wonder if the 4xe version will use the 3.6 or if they will put the 4 cylinder with it, as in the Wrangler?
