That has to be a hotshot truck with a 41.85mph average?
It's not a hotshot truck per se, but he works for a company that hauls paint supplies throughout a multi-state region. He has three EcoDiesel trucks. His first truck got totaled right around 405,000 miles. His second truck now has 500,000 miles. His third truck just turned 202,000 today.

Vern was a hot shot/transporter. He hauled mostly for Airstream trailers but would also occasionally haul boats and motorcycles. Vern towed from coast to coast. Here's a breakdown on his engines.

Vern - 371,000 miles (engine only) - EGR Cooler/Head Gasket Failure
Vern - 423,000 miles (engine only) - Cracked Head
Vern - 20X,XXX miles (engine only) - In Progress

James was also a hot shot/transporter. He hit 452,000 before a HPFP failure sent shrapnel downstream and took out an injector.

James - 452,000 miles (engine) - HPFP Failure

I have 91,000miles on my 3rd Gen Eco. I've used Penzoil Platnium Euro 5w-40 and Oem filters thus far. Hope I can make it that far!!!
I know one guy that hit somewhere around 215,000 miles on his 3rd gen (2020) Ram EcoDiesel, but he traded for a new 2023 when he found out that was the last model year for the EcoDiesel.

I've read through this thread and don't believe I've seen any reports on VALVOLINE PREMIUM BLUE EXTREME FULL SYNTHETIC DIESEL ENGINE OIL SAE 5W-40. It is API SN rated.
Coming from the Cummins world were this is the prefilled oil in all Cummins motors from the factory and what I used in my 2015 Cummins.

Has anybody seen any oil analysis on it in our EcoDiesels?

VALVOLINE PREMIUM BLUE

I went through quite a few UOA reports and didn't see Valvoline Premium Blue. I'll let you know if I come across one.

Thanks.
I'm almost ready for an oil change. I'll have to think it over and maybe use it.

Which lab was recommended for the analysis? Seems like I remember a few had reason not to use Blackstone.

Blackstone lacks testing equipment, which is why they are not a certified lab. The other issue with Blackstone is their long wait times.

I use Oil Analyzers, which is Amsoil's division of Polaris Labs.

I've seen Valvoline UOA results on the gen 3 EcoDiesel, but I can't remember any specific details about it. Post up your results if you decide to try it.

So you would advise against using the blackstone lab and advise us all to use the Amsoil backed lab.
I really don't care what lab people choose, but it's important they know some of the key differences between the labs.

What was the best oil to use based on your results?
I personally run Pennzoil Platinum, but the data shows that Amsoil AFL MS has some of the lowest wear metals and doesn't shear like most other oils.

So what are the top 3 quality oils for the Gladiator 3.0's? 1 best 3 lowest.

Amsoil recommends the "FS" oil not the "MS" for the Gladiator. What is the difference?

I was wondering the same thing as I had to double check the threads to make sure I wasn't misreading the threads since Amsoil was recommending something different and then had to do a search for the MS oil to see if it did come up since it does not come up you put in the Gladiator.

Screw it. I will take the EcoDiesel to the dealership for oil changes I guess. Now is there some labyrinth to navigate to do oil changes on the 3.6 gassers or will 100% Synthetic do the job?

Getting hacked off around here, nothing can be simple...ever with new vehicles.

Amsoil MS and HPL have consistency shown to have the lowest wear metals and have been able to hold up to shear. After that, the data is limited, but I'd say that LiquiMoly and XClean Gen2 are possiblity in the top 5.

I think most of us would agree that Quaker State is one of the lowest performing oils.

The difference is formulations. From what I've seen, Pennzoil Platinum holds up better than Amsoil FS, however, I heard that Amsoil has recently reformulated FS, so we will need to see new UOA samples.

Looking at MOTUL, the only MS-12991 oil they show is the "8100 X-clean (C3 SAPS) X-Clean Gen 2 does not show MS-12991 spec.

Even though Pennzoil tests show best performance, does that outweigh the fact that is twice the SAPS level as the MOTUL?
