You all going more than 5 to 6 thousand miles between changes on these sensitive engines are wild. Too many issues for me to not do 5k oil change intervals….

I'm the one and only driver. If it got reset, it did it itself. I wasn't planning on following its advice anyway, unless it suggested a change before I thought one was due. I never had a need for a "monitor" in the past; don't have a need for one now.

When the oil life monitor tells me to. That's what its there for, after all.
Most of my driving is highway/freeway, and I don't regularly commute.
The oil life monitor typically takes me to nearly 10,000 miles.

My first oil change was at 2,500, my second will be at 5,000 then I'll keep it at 5k intervals. I record all service work in my owner's manual, and I add a service entry on my Jeep app.

What I found interesting is that if you have the dealer we buy from do an oil change in the WAVE program, they put a reminder sticker on the Jeep - and the miles on it indicate 5,000 miles until next change, or 6 months. Interesting. (but hey they do make money on oil changes, even the "Free" ones)
Our local dealer is the same, but the oil life meter has been indicating a change around 5-6k anyway. We live a minimum of 17 miles to town which has nearly eliminated the possibility of short drives since the stop and go doesn't start until after doing that distance at 50mph+ ensuring all systems are up to temp. What reduces the oil life IMO is that we do at least 50 miles a week, on average, driving fire roads with sections of 12-15% grades that get everything hot.

I did 3k initial and 15% to 20% on the oil life calculator (typically 7k ish)…all done by the dealer with the spec oil…

and I got the tick. ‘21 3.6.

passenger side intake camshaft and rockers replaced at 30k under warranty.

not sure if more frequent changes or different oil would have prevented it…or if I should up the frequency going forward.

My cousin lived in one. Her neighbor re-sodded his yard after a freeze and put the plastic garden bed barrier things between his yard and hers to prevent his "new" grass from spreading into her lot. He also reported her every week for still having "dead grass". HOA's can go straight to....
We lived in an HOA community for a few years. The HOA fees kept going up while providing little to no value. I think it's rather absurd to spend what it costs to buy a home only to be bound by CCRs that were written by the developer two decades ago.

The HOA board became the fiefdom for an insular set of neighbors who cared way more about laws and landscaping than they ought to have. When I tried to have a speed hump installed it was the HOA who balked at supposed damage to "low riding vehicles".

Yeah, anyway, that's why I live on a farm now where I can cut the fields naked if I so choose and no one can stop me.

I find that I have to drive at least 15 miles to get things fully up to temperature - and then it takes several minutes of operation at those fully hot temps to actually remove the fuel and byproducts of combustion (including water).
My oil life monitor typically would have me going 7,000-8,000 and that's roughly where my last oil change landed where the lab said it was just about right.
I've sent in samples at lower mileage and they come back saying I could go farther on that oil. The oil life monitor actually closely matches what the lab results come back with.
The fact that almost all of my drives (not all, but mostly) involve getting it up to temperature and then driving another 15-20 minutes once everything is all totally warmed up is likely helping things. It's not just getting it good and warmed up - it's keeping it there for several minutes to fully remove all water and fuel contamination.

I change mine 4-5K no matter what. I do it myself with the best oil I can find. Pens 5-20 Platinum Full synthetic. Do you ever wonder if the filter catches anything really.

I never look at my oil monitor, but I decided to take a look at it after reading this thread. Monitor showed 90% life and my oil has just over 2000 miles on it. That can't be right.

The majority of my trips are less than 5 miles with a full cool down in between. I probably do 12-16 of these short trip cycles per week, with only 4-6 full operating temp cycles per week. Oh well, I guess I'll just continue with 5k oil changes.

My is at 66% with 2289.3 on it .
Idle at least 2 hours a day. And drive 64 miles one way to work here lately. I was driving 180-200 a day for about 3 years. Now I am driving about 127 a day with a couple miles of that in mud and dirt. I am in 4-wheel drive everyday . I was even in low range with rear locker in today.
Like I said 98,079 miles right now sitting on this site.
