My guess would be some type of Shell Helix oil if they do the fill in Italy.
The engines are run at the factory and shipped with oil. I'm guessing it's some type of bulk oil. It very well could be a bulk Shell Helix oil.

It'd be hilarious to find out it's Rotella T6.

There are a few guys running T6. Even GDE (Green Diesel Engineering) runs T6 in their Jeep Wrangler with good UOA results.

I have no doubt. Just thought it'd be funny since it doesn't have the factory MS-12991 spec.

I got an update from William Stox.

"Mat Haas has a prototype being made, that will allow you to run a dual bypass filter remotely. This will allow for an increased capacity, higher filtration option like a Fram FE8A, or XG8A, along with a bypass. It will add roughly an extra liter of capacity, and is a properly designed bypass with all of the oil going to the feed galley.

More oil will help with the intervals, but the Gen3 exhibits oil shear. There’s maybe 3-4 oils that will survive 12-15K intervals from what we’ve seen so far. We are hoping to get this to 20K with a bypass and one of the better oils, but it remains to be seen."

I am getting ready to do an oil change on mine and it will be the first one since I have owned the Gladiator. It will be hitting 30K miles. I am going with the Amsoil 5w-40 MS. I had a question on the oil filter and fuel filter. I just wanted to make sure as I have read through the threads that I am correct in understanding that the OEM filters are still the best ones to get?

Based on the data, the Fram Ultra Synthetic filter (XG11794) has a lower micron rating. Don't quote me on these numbers but I think it looks like this:

Mopar - 36 micron absolute
Fram - 21 micron absolute

You Gladiator boys seems to be a little more active on the oil talk. How do we know for sure which oils are full, mid or low sap? It seems this is the biggest thing that most of the oil talk is coming down too.

Would it be good to update the list to state what sap it is?

You bring up a good question. FCA provided the MS-12991 specification, which doesn't give us a low SAPS oil. Apparently FCA is more worried about the engine than the DPF, however, the MS-12991 specification isn't doing the best at reducing engine wear, either.

We're starting to see DPF failures on the Gen 3 in the 100,000 - 150,000 mile range. Even at 80,000 miles, people are noticing more frequent regens.

So, going back to your question, my goal is to abandon the MS-12991 specification and find a low SAPS oil that will give us the best engine protection.

How often does your's regen? On my iDash gauge. I'm seeing just over 700 miles between regens. It will slowly climb to 60% SL. Then quickly raise to 80% then do an active regen. After regen, it's at 9% SL. Have 38,000 mile now. It's been this way for 20,000 miles.

Mine does about the same, every 800 miles or so. Must be happening due to a different trigger than SL because with my driving routine SL usually hovers between 25 and 40%. Passive regen alone doesn’t seem to take it below 20% even with extended interstate trips so my guess is the programming requires an active regen to flush below 10% after a max of so many miles and/or drive time.

Unfortunately, I don't have a method to monitor/record the data. Do you have the SuperGauge or DataMonster?
