My Homemade Hoist for 1 Person Top Removal

I'm a new convert to Jeep and just this past weekend I built a hoist so I can remove the rear top by myself. It just got me thinking that there has to be a better way. Oh, if anyone is interested, I can put together instructions for the hoist.

So my efforts this weekend got me wondering about a collapsible hard top. I really like the look and qualities of the hard top vs a soft top. I was just curious if there is such a thing. I wouldn't think making a hard top that could fold yet still resemble a solid hard top with the sound deadening qualities would be that difficult. Do you think there would be a market for such a thing?

Yeah, no joke. But... everything you see there was only $137 and a bit of time. I didn't have to cut a thing until I made the feet and braces.

Oh I like that. One of my problems I have is I live in an apartment, so no ceiling mounting anything to include the garage.

I like the idea, but like most of us I like to keep mine off for a few days when I had my JKU. I need to keep it hoisted up out of the way. I suppose, like the OP, living in an apartment would be an issue with keeping it from getting "taken away"

Guess since you are in an apartment this is not an option BUT I would use just the top, put it on slide rails.

Jesus, $900 for that? I agree, could maybe make a DIY version for cheaper lol probably need specific angles though that aren’t commonly available to us normies lmfao
