LFP hasn't flipped the script because the toxicity is an integral part of the battery, AND motor construction.LFP flipped that script and adoption is growing. They are still more intensive to produce but over a typical lifetime they have a much lower environmental impact.
But I'm done talking about this when it's clear we're all arguing different things. Nobody's mind will be changed.
Add in it isn't just lithium you are mining, but other rare earth's like samarium, and cadmium, lanthanum, scandium and ytrium. All of those are necessary.
My house battery for my truck is a 270amp hour LFP made by Battleborn batteries. It's awesome! But I realize that when it reaches the end of its life I have some toxic waste I will have to deal with.
Hopefully the recycling technology will be more advanced by that time.
