How did you get the control box to fit on top. I just put on the arcus and was trying to install the winch but the cables out of the back were hitting the grill so it wouldn't fit.

Granted I am installing on a wrangler .. figure it's the same
The badlands is the same. I removed the cables from the rear, redrilled on the side and ran them out the passengers side.

I'm not the smartest guy... Have any pictures of your process?

I have it set up for return but if I can make it work I'll keep it. Was looking at a smittybilt x20 gen 2 10k since the wires look smaller but worried I'll have the same problem.

Really just upset I have to take it all off again to install

I don't have the pics when it was apart but here is one I found. The bandland only has the B+ and ground for wireless coming out the back. I think if you do some searching here on the site you;ll find better pictures from a couple other guys. Thats how I got the idea. I think if you search @ShadowsPapa he had some better pictures for his install.

The model of Zeak I installed has the wires coming out at an angle at the bottom of the control box. This allowed me to not have to relocate any of the wiring. It’s kinda hard to get a good photo of it installed. The wires have a less than an inch of clearance and although the box cover looks like it’s touching the grille in the photo it has a small air gap.

I wonder how many of the off brands are just rebadged Badlands or some other brand?
I wonder if the Badland winch is a rebadged Amazon winch. Anyone who knows how Harbor Freight operates knows that there is no difference between the Badland winch and any of the other Chinese winches on Amazon. Harbor Freight is constantly changing suppliers for the items they sell.

NINGBO in China manufacturer the Badland winches and always have. I've owned 2 in the past 15 years and they are definitely better that the Amazon winches that I've seen other people using on trails. Especially the Apex version I had on my Gladiator. It was as good as the Warn winches that were comparable

10+ years ago, I would agree with that statement. Not so much now.

Harbor Freight has made a pretty significant pivot aways from everything they sell being bottom dollar quality and cost. Their Badlands Apex series winches are pretty much on par or better than any of the SmittyBuilt or WARN import made winches on the market.

I've had two of them myself. I just don't think there's that much difference any more.

I own 2 Apex winches. When I was looking to replace the 8 year old Badlands winch that finally failed I did a lot of research and comparisons. I was not opposed to spending the $$$ on a Warn on the JK as it gets abused. However, the line speed of the Apex and the cost difference sold me and so far, it's been flawless. OK, the duty cycle isn't as good as a Zeon but I have exceeded the duty cycle many times on the Apex with no failures. Because of my experience with the Apex on the JK, I went with one on the Gladiator. Bought with the 25% off coupon, it was about $479. Hard to argue with that price for what the Apex delivers in performance.
