I got a call from the dealer yesterday morning. He wanted to know if I still had my 21 JTR. I told him yes I did still have it. He wanted to know if I was interested in a "shiny new" JTR. I told him that to get what I had would cost me too much and I wasn't interested. His excuse for calling was to have a few used JT's on the lot. I think he wasn't telling me exactly why he wanted it. No matter. I am keeping it. I just went over 24K miles and just ran 2 events at the 2024 Chili Challenge https://chilechalleng.org (all stock, with the exception of a winch on the front).

My dealer cold called be a few weeks ago. He has never done that.
He said that he was instructed to contact all of his previous Gladiator customers to see if they were interested in trading.
Their lot is full of new Jeeps.

New car sales are in the ditch, bankers have not dropped their rates, in fact most of them moved them up, with the latest fed announcement. The dealers are hitting every JT previous sale to trying to generate anything to getting the new stock off the lots.

If your dealership is tied to one larger dealership parent companies like Autonation, Lithia and the like, they really have been pivoting more towards used and not wanting to taking in any new build stock from Stellantis due to the current new glut of stock on their lots not moving and wanting to get that moved in the deal. This use to be a bullshit sales tactic in years past but not so much of late with the current state of Stellantis.

Got postcard in the mail from my local dealership stating they would give me $28k for my 21 Willys as a trade-in on any new CDRJ vehicle.
I have a base Sport, not a Willys and they should know that because I special ordered it from them and have it serviced there.

Been getting mailers monthly for about a year now from Mazda on my wife's 3yo car. Stellantis isn't the only one struggling... Just the only one we care about.
Yeah, we have been getting unsolicited buyback/trade-in offers on our two non-Gladiator vehicles for years at this point. Nothing new.

This is a common sales tactic; they don't care about buying your JT, they want to sell you a new one. Their stock isn't moving and dealers are desperate to move anything off the lot.

There’s nothing special about you or your Jeep (no offense)…….They ALL do it….…. every manufacturer will hound you to trade up. It’s a sales tactic.

If you buy ‘new’ vehicles …. You can expect them to contact you after 2 years and every year after that. You’re in the system….. no turning back and it’s nothing new.

The dealer isn't interested in your JTR. They're interested in selling you a new car. The software a dealership uses allows salesmen to sort by who has purchased what, and when they purchased it. Then they call the "most likely" to be ready to sell.

Another great tactic is to walk the service department's incoming vehicles. They find the owners in the waiting room and then chat with them about trading in their vehicle - and let them know that the customer won't even have to pay for the work they're having done that day.

I'm sure you JTR is special.

...to you.

To the dealership you're another sale for the month. They don't care if it's a Launch Edition or not; they're just looking to make a sale.

My JTR totally modded would look great on any lot and probably sell. If they want it they can make me an offer I can't refuse, but, they won't. Mine will probably go to a friend someday that knows the history of the build.

It's called dialing for $'s it's a standard sales tactic when they don't have people on the lot. They call previous customers trying to get them to come back...it has nothing to do with you personally other then you are in their call que because they have your info. Almost every sales profession does it.
