Got my JT back yesterday from the dealership for the paint corrosion issues…hood/3 out of 4 doors/tailgate. They‘ve had it since Thanksgiving. They wound up painting everything but the rear quarter panels. The color match is perfect and they did a great job. Lead tech said the dealership does 3-4 of these per month! They also gave me a life time warranty on the new paint and body repairs. I asked what the total cost of repair was (this is the sitting down part) $14,485.00!!! If your having corrosion issues DO NOT do the “I’ll do it later” thing, this process took me over 10 months and two dealerships (one of which I outright fired over selling my replacement parts).

Do you have pictures of the original corrosion issues?
What year and how many miles?

Oof. Yea I’m guilty of putting it off. My hood has nickel-sized bubbling on the passenger side. I haven’t noticed anything else though.

I just remembered that my old dealer said they would diagnose it but they never did.

I don’t have any pictures of the corrosion, but you can’t miss it, bubbled up paint at the bottom of the drivers door, found it while hand washing it. Hinges are the same. I didn’t see the hood and tailgate damage, the dealer found it when they were repairing. The dealership took all the pics and measured the area size of damage, then submitted it to Jeep for the green light to repair. It’s a 2020 April build, with 46K.

Go press them to get it done, I almost pee’d a little when they told me cost of repair.
one last thing, they had the JT from Thanksgiving to yesterday, tech told me every time they wanted to move it around in the shop, they had to jump start it. They replaced the main battery under warranty, it was replaced 10 months ago under warranty. I aux deleted the little battery about three months ago when I started getting warning messages. It’s hard to imagine that they are putting in that shit of quality of battery to only hold up for 10 months. Geez.

I feel your pain. I had a 2020 Rubicon with similar corrosion issues. The local dealer was was having body shop issues so I took it to where I purchased it and they estimated $19k to repair. So after a couple of months of going back and forth with Jeep. With the dealer and Jeepcares solidly taking the lead, Jeep agreed to buy back the Rubicon at MSRP. I got a great deal on a 2023 Mojave. I’ve had the Mojave for about 2 years now with out a hint of corrosion. Starting in 2023 Jeep has addressed the paint and metal to metal contact issues with a zinc barrier on all hinges. I’m on the beach 4-5 times a week and do A full rinse from frame to roof.

I keep mine dry in a So Cal garage. No issues. when I do it's gone. I like it but it's a wonder people buy these things. With all my mods I feel like I have built it myself.

coverage is good for 5 years from the date you took possession.
Dealerships near me won't cover it after 50,000 miles. Luckily noticed the hood on mine at 46,000. At 73,000 now and noticed one of the door hinges has the bubbling. Leaving it for now. Had to go to 6 dealerships before I could find one that would do the work. Some didn't have a body shop, others were only doing work on Jeeps they sold.

As far as I know there is no mileage restrictions. Some of these dealers are getting ridiculous.
The dealership I took mine to mentioned the jeep not purchased from them, I told him mine was sold and I would not take it to the new dealer.
Glad you finally found a place to take care of it.

Wanted to add this from a post of wheelin98TJ. This is out of the manual, so if anyone argues on mileage.

It would have been cheaper to paint the entire vehicle. There is a lot of labor into blending the new paint with the old. Maybe they did and that is why it matches perfectly, but Jeep will only pay for the 'repair areas'.

For those of us beyond warranty and wanting to prevent this kind of corrosion is the aftermarket making a gasket set to prevent the dissimilar metal corrosion? Will painting the bare metal components prevent the corrosion? What about a sacrificial anode such as used on boats. OK maybe the anode thing is not effective without the benefit of flowing water I don’t know. Seems like something could be done to prevent this corrosion.

Good luck--I had the hood replaced on my 2023 JTRD this summer due to corrosion in the seam. Fun stuff.........
