My guess is the HK OEM/Mopar speakers do sound very similar in sound quality (to what I am hearing with the 307F’s) based on what I am hearing from people who have installed them.. That said, as you pointed out, I do not know because I have not personally heard them (as I have mentioned before).
And as you pointed out you do not know how the 307F’s sound.
That said if you truly want to compare apples to apples, the only way is to compare them both in the same vehicle/environment. So, if you are going to get a pair of the 307F’s anyway, why not do a quick swap out with your HK/Mopars in your Jeep and directly compare? As we all know it takes all of 10-15 minutes to change the dash speakers. And if you want to truly eliminate “personal bias”, you would do what I have done a few times back in my custom install days in the home audio world and do a true double blind test. By that I mean, have a friend swap out the speakers so you do not know what speakers are actually playing..😉 This is the ONLY way to eliminate personal bias.. It is a very enlightening experience believe me. I’ve had situations where “tricks” have been played on the listener and speakers were not actually changed at all but they still thought there was a difference in sound and guessing there was an actual comparison between two different speakers..😉😆
I would also recommend using an SPL meter to compare output levels between the two (but that’s just me as I like to be very thorough)..

That said, I bet there won’t be much difference based on the impressions I have been reading here.. And if that is the case, there is not much to argue about, is there?🤔

The only real differences between the two sets of speakers as far as I know is the price, warranty, and the ability to easily return and get a refund.
With the HK/Mopars, they are cheaper (but not by a lot if you buy the 307F’s on sale at Crutchfield, $79), but you also do not get a warranty (unless whomever you’re buying from, EBay, etc. gives you one), and you cannot return them if you decide you do not want them. The 307’s can be easily returned and come with a 1 year warranty.
So, if you can wait for the Crutchfield sale, you pay an extra $30 (or so, as I believe I’ve heard here that the HK/Mopars are around $50), and get a 1 year warranty and the ability to return.
IF I could easily return the HK OEM’s, I would have tried them myself.. As you say everyone as the ability to exercise their own options..

Btw, if you want to truly hear great sounding car speakers, listen to some high end JL Audio speaker systems like the one I installed in my Mustang a few years back.. Not cheap, but they are truly “great speakers”, and would blow away any of the speakers we are talking about, and it’s not even close! I’m not willing to spend that kind of money anymore on car audio (and in the case of the Gladiator, would be a waste of money IMO to put in such a high end system anyway), I focus my high dollar audio purchases on my home audio system, where it really matters to me.. 🍻
Post a link to the ones you have. I want to make sure I am getting the same ones ..

Here is the link (unfortunately they are no longer on sale): Infinity REF307F

Also, they come with pretty big capacitors in the box to block the lower frequencies. Do not install them though if you have the “upgraded” Alpine system with the sub, etc. It already has the crossover network that only allows the high and midrange frequencies to pass to the 3.5” speakers in the dash and in the sound bar. The 4” get the mid bass frequencies and the sub of course gets the lower frequencies. Here’s a pic of those capacitors:

So… for giggles I took a look at the new Grand Cherokee with the McIntosh system, pictures were hard to find, but this eBay ad did a nice job. As you can see it looks just like the upgrade I suggested, a nice little “ALPINE” logo, also made in Mexico BUT the speaker has 4 pins, the amp probably drives the mids and tweeters separately …

I’m gonna go on a limb, but alpine engineered a “platform” of sound systems for the jeep. They can scramble components and market it however they want … all this started with the JK age. In fact our factory alpine tweeters were also used in the JK.

Anyways, just wanted to share …

When the infinity's come in. i will test them in my Gladiator to compare them to the Rockford's, HK Mopar, and Terra acoustics I had in.
I have a SPL meter, so I will take some readings so we have real numbers to go by ..
Did you ever compare these speakers?

After reading through a lot none-sense in this thread, I have a few things to add myself (hopefully relevant to those who have asked some of the questions within).

1. New part number for the speakers the OP purchased is 68584767AA (here's a link to them, or just go to your local Chrysler dealership) https://www.mymoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-speaker-left-quarter-trim-panel-68584767aa

2. I have both the above HK speaker AND a set of Infinity 307s. I had actually purchased the Infinity's before stumbling across this thread trying to find info on the factory amp. They're both excellent speakers, and from one to another, sound almost identical. The HK ones have just a touch more clarity and do have a slightly higher dB reading, but by no means significant. The edge for me on the HK vs the Infinity is this: I like that they have screens on them, do not require a separate connecter harness (less things to come loose or be shoved into the small holes), and they come with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I also don't care for the fact that the Infinity's don't actually fit into the mounting spaces (you have to bend or cut one side mounting tab for the dash and use self tapping screws for the sound bar). I will be retuning the 307s and doing all 4 3.5" speakers in the ones from Chrysler. That said, I do also have a set of the 4" Infinity speakers, and since HK doesn't offer a 4", I'll just stick with those. Additionally, price point does win out with the Infinity's if you're looking to keep it a bit more budget minded.

Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either of these options. Both sound great, come from reputable companies, and are fairly easy to install. Now my goal is to figure out the best EQ setting and I'm still trying to find a thread about if it's worth swapping the factory alpine amp with something better (so if anyone has a link to a thread discussing that, please let me know!)

To me the HK were overly bright, but they mellowed out. I now need to buy the matching rear …

Yeah, they definitely have that high end crispness. Though, I listen to everything from podcasts to metal to EDM, so I love having that clarity. At the moment I just have two up front, but have two more on order for the rear to really bring everything to life. I'm most excited to actually be able to hear music when the doors are off lol

This is one speaker, not a pair in that link correct?

That is correct, just one speaker
So one speaker is $69.73. I could have swore someone in this thread was saying this option was cheaper than getting a pair from Crutchfield. That doesn't seem cheaper to me.

I'd have to go back and check mine out, but I'm pretty sure I mentioned this definitely wasn't the most cost effective method, but from the options I tried/saw, it produced the best result. I do know it's cheaper than SOME of the other options, just not all.

Put in the HK with the updated part number that allgutsnoglory2 posted. I listened to a bunch of music after only swapping one to compare to the original "premium" alpine. The difference is night and day. So happy I stumbled across this plug and play upgrade. Will likely to the soundbar next.
