Thsts correct it is a licensed (inferior copy of the 8HP50 made by ZF , licensed to Chrysler as the 850RE ( Royal Error...thats a joke) ,It's a zf.design built by jeep
Unless you have the diesel, then it's a German built ZF unit.Thsts correct it is a licensed (inferior copy of the 8HP50 made by ZF , licensed to Chrysler as the 850RE ( Royal Error...thats a joke) ,
I digress it isnt as strong as it should be I have been babying mine along for 45,000 miles . This year I am slapping a new transmission in it . Working on saving the cash up. I have 116,000 on mine.
100 % right. I just looked it up.The auto trans for the gas job JT is built in Germany, shipped to the U.S. and installed in Toledo Ohio. The artical say's it's one of the best and strongest transmissions around. The American built one is in the diesel. The German built one is better.Unless you have the diesel, then it's a German built ZF unit.
Then why the build list list 850RE and not 8HP50 ?Unless you have the diesel, then it's a German built ZF unit.
My dealer wants the oil service at 80k. I mentioned a couple years ago about the 50-60k but they still stick with the 80k. Not driven hard or offroaded. Thinking on waiting.
Your right ,I looked at my maroni lable. it list the auto trans as the 850 RE. Figures Chrysler artical was BS , they don't even know whats in there trucks. But all in all, it is a smooth trany.
The ZF8 is one of the main reasons I bought the Gladiator. I got a chance to test drive a JL at Easter Jeep Safari on Baby Lion's Back. It had been a long time since I drove an auto off road and I was worried about it holding the gear and being able to engine brake correctly. An issue I'd had in the past was the transmission upshifting suddenly on a technical section and getting a ton of speed.Your right ,I looked at my maroni lable. it list the auto trans as the 850 RE. Figures Chrysler artical was BS , they don't even know whats in there trucks. But all in all, it is a smooth trany.
This is backwards100 % right. I just looked it up.The auto trans for the gas job JT is built in Germany, shipped to the U.S. and installed in Toledo Ohio. Your correct 850RE made in Toledo. If it was the German version it would say 8HP50 on the build sheet .. there are just a few Gas that have one. 99.999% have the knock off version. This is backwards![]()
