Man. This hit's home. I used to cycle 300miles a week. Never really liked Jeeps and then I saw the Gladiator at the Detroit auto show. I ride Trek Road bikes So it caught my attention. went on a test drive and was hooked. Slowly but surely changed my free time to Jeeping instead of cycling. I've gained 27lbs in the past year. This post just slapped me in the face. Time to stop being lazy.

We used to ATV with our kids, loved it - Dunes, Trails, logging roads you name it. But kids grew out of it and wife developed Rheumatoid arthritis and became to hard for her to recover after a day on the trails. Taking the Jeep out lets her enjoy that still.

That and a built TJ or YJ was shit on the road. That's the most impressive thing about the JLs and JTs. We've roadtripped the JLUR on 38s 5k+ miles in one trip and ran L8-9 trails along the way. With the earlier generations you pretty much had to pick one or the other as cruising 85mph in a TJ that could also run Pritchett Canyon just wasn't an option. I'm not a mountain biker, but how many months does a 5k mile trip take on one of those? Where do you put your groceries? Dogs? I don't think they handle well in the snow and certainly aren't an option in deep powder. You might be able to hit 100mph on one with a big enough hill, but the mojave will do that in the desert with ease.

I like them just because it because it is quirky, goofy, and fun to take the roof off and zip around. I've owned my 2008 JK since Oct 07 and it has morphed several times. No other vehicle can do it as easily and cheaply. (I have a JT also don't jump me because I am on this forum).

I should have had this in my JKUR years ago. I had to be towed home to NYC from PA twice because of my own stupidity.
