Took my 2023 JT Rubicon in for a rear locker sensor and the service guy said i had a another bearing out. They replace one about 5000 mile ago i'm at 17,000 now I'm not sure if its the same one are not yet. But now they say the bearing spun in the housing and it will not hold a bearing any more. So i need a total new rear end at the low cost of 9,899.00 Being i have 5:13 gear and the warranty is gone. I'm not going to spend 10,000 on a new 44 rear end from jeep. I'd just buy a dana 80 if that was the case. So i guess i'm. going to look for a used one for now. Any idea on where to find one?? I think there was something wrong with it from the start!!!! But who knows?? I had yukon gears installed and now read all kinds of bad crap about them so who fkn knows!! Now i'm worried about the front end as well. I do plan on buying dana 60/80 at some point but not right now dam my bad luck!!!! Anyone know where to look for a good used rear end???

That sucks. I hate to hear it.
I see take off Dana 44s on FB marketplace from time to time.

Fyi. The rear axle bear cups are supposed to be loose in the tube. They aren't pressed fit like usual, but it should be snug and spins freely. It's also normal to have a slight in and out freeplay as well when pulling and pushing on the axles.

Request to exam the cups if possible. The cup taper should be smooth without any ridges marking.

If it is actually loose, isn't this what retaining compounds are meant for, like Loctite 660 or 648? I've never used either one, just asking in case it is a viable alternative to replacing the axle.

Personally i'd just get a replacement 44 off of a parted out rubi on FBM. Most effective cost wise. Alos yeah I avoid Yukon gears, I know some people have success but imo its alway worth the 10-20% more to get a kit that has Koyo, Timken, NSK, or SKF bearing. I also don't see why you couldn't find a take off Dana 60/80 from someone else's project on FBM too. If your gonna buy new, I'd just get a Dana Advantek in whatever size you want from Dana Direct. Front end usually sees a lot less load than the rear, but if you gonna do a rear end on the truck anyway. Just get a quality rebuild and bearing kit to do the front for peace of mind. Gears on a JT are very Novice DIY friendly. My kit i got perfect with the factory shims front and rear. took me 5 hours a diff.

Are you sure you need a 60/80 someday? You couldn't get by with a 60/60 setup?

If you could live with a 60 in the rear, I'd think pretty hard about doing it now. You'll probably have to spend at least $2,500, maybe 3,000 to get another 5.13 geared 44. And then you're getting close to half the price of a 60.
