I also missed the bit (why I hate using a phone, I almost always use the laptop or Chromebook except early mornings and certain other times) where this was a stop-gap measure. I caught the part of the axle, per dealer agreement, though, and for that, hope it goes through.A "get by" "fix", hoping for it not causing more severe damage down the road.
But as I have other vehicles I can use, mine would be parked. So there is that difference.
I "know" a cam rotting should not cause other issues, but there are enough "stories" out there, and knowing how picky the other components like phasers and so on are, paranoia does enter in.
I've yet to "see" or witness other damage that was directly caused by a cam or follower (or lifter in the past) going to crap, but....................
I see too many doing DIY "repairs" believing you replace only what's toast - ignore the rest. You don't have to go back over a couple of weeks to see just that sort of thing. And for them, it was a repair, not a stop-gap measure.
