"With the F-150 Lightning, we proved an electric truck could be a hit, and it has remained the best-selling electric pickup."

Fixed:

"With the F-150 Lightning, we proved an electric truck could be a hit, and it has remained the best-selling electric pickup. that we could lie about the range of an electric truck and you'd still buy it."

Jokes aside, I drive a Lightning for work. It's a great truck in literally everything but range, which is nowhere near what was advertised.

My wifes uncle has one. It is in the shop all of the time. Mist of the issues that he has is computer/electronic issues. He states that he loves the truck but you can hear it in his voice that he is second guessing his purchase. I visit a few times a year, I have yet to see it.

I would have put up with the lack of range and other warts if I could have gotten one at the initial $39K asking price. Same with the $19K Maverick launch price.

My Lightning is the best truck I've ever had.... until it's time to tow long distances with the camper. Towing range is the problem. Everywhere else the truck is amazing.

By long distance, do you mean over 100 miles?

With my 4,700 lb. enclosed trailer behind me in perfect weather conditions I see 0.7 mi/kWh which equates to around 80 miles of range. In terms of cost, that's the equivalent of a gas truck getting about 4 MPG. It's horrendous....and that's only 50% trailer capacity for the truck.

Yeah. I knew it was horrible. Even worse with colder weather. I was curious how bad your personal experience was. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I can’t imagine how bad the resale value is plummeting. All the full electric trucks and SUVs are plummeting. Especially, luxury. My neighbor got a new BMW iX two summers ago. I told him to return it under the 7 day return period that dealership offered because the expected resale on those is so bad. He was pissed then but he told me a few months ago that he wished he did because it’s worth less than half of what he paid for it now.

Yeah to be fair, that's the ONLY drawback to the truck. Everything else has been amazing with it. Tons of power. Totally linear throttle due to having no transmission to shift through. Quiet. Rides like a Cadillac, yet has 2,030 lbs. of payload capacity. Costs me about $14 to fully charge it at home in 8 hours. Tons of storage because of the "frunk", huge second row, and cargo bed. Pulls like a freight train with a trailer behind it. Has 9,600 watt generator built in that'll power anything. AWD system works great in the snow. Tons of safety features and creature comforts. It's a sweet, sweet truck. Best overall vehicle I've ever had.

If only it had more towing range......

It's a lease, so in a couple years I will have to decide whether to trade it for an ICE pickup, try one of the new EREV pickups, or just turn it in and walk away and drive my Jeep daily.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, but you know how funny that sounds? The only thing it has trouble with is being a truck? It makes a nice big comfortable AWD vehicle is what you’re saying.

You know how funny it is hearing a Gladiator owner say that? šŸ˜†

The only truck thing the Gladiator does better is towing range.

So, it's great till you need it to be a truck?

I use mine as a truck and tow heavy loads with it. I have towed several thousand lbs all over the SE. If I can’t tow a car on my car hauler or a 6x12 full of heavy antique furniture across several states then it’s useless as a truck to me. That’s my point.
