"While we're in there" always goes that way 😄
You’re lucky you can even get 400A service to your home. I haven’t looked into the cost, but we would need a transformer upgrade from the utility company and I can imagine that’s quite expensive if they’d even do it.

Plug-in hybrids have to be the easiest form of car ownership. Plug it in, great. Don't plug it in, it still runs. But you paid extra for the hybrid propulsion - why TF wouldn't you plug it in?

Our 4xe charges overnight (with evening+ City of Anaheim rates) and is a simple plug in the wall. We made no changes to our electrical outlets nor breakers. We could have, but we didn't. Works great for us.

Further indication of how stupid some of the human race is I suppose.

I would be a good hybrid/EV owner. I'm already plugging my diesel Jeep in every day. I'm either charging/maintaining/desulfating and/or I'm plugging the block heater in.

My JT is plugged in............to a block heater.

My house was built in 1956. The year I was born. LOL It had a 100 amp box. Now it has a 200 amp box. Wasn't cheap upgrading boxes. Have 2, 30 amp breakers, that was used for camper/motorhome. 1, 50 amp that was for the hot tub. That spun the meter. 1, 50 amp for the welder/air compressor. Both use the same plug. Unplug one and plug the other one in.

My block heater is plugged in pretty much from the middle of October until the middle of April (6 months of the year). I like to keep the engine warm for those early morning short commutes.

I think in MA it's code for new houses to have 400 amp service. Supposedly to future proof them for ev chargers. Not sure if that's true though.

Nevermind, Just looked it up. 200 is still code in MA.

What's going to kill in California is 2030 when all new gas appliances are banned. 50a range/oven, 50a HVAC, 50a water heater. 30a dryer..... 200s will be useless.

Sure I guess you could use the '70s tier electric appliances but they all suck

Avocado green and harvest gold appliances will outlive twinkies and cockroaches. :CWL:
My parents house was built in 1978. It had avocado green appliances. When they remodeled the kitchen in the 80s, they were able to purchase new metal covers and they got stainless steel. Fast forward to the 90s and there was another remodel and they replaced them. Well, the appliances still worked and they gave them to my grandparents when they rehabbed a 50s home in total disrepair. My cousin owns that house now and the same damn appliances are still in it and functional. Roper brand iirc. It’s kinda funny because it’s been a nice house since my grandparents redid it in the 90s and it has been remodeled a few times since then. They’re still soldiering on.
