Help!!! It's jeep weather...

Let me get a few fundamentals out of the way; 2023 Glady Sport with manual locks and manual windows and the key-fob only purpose is for starting the vehicle. I also have replaced the radio head unit with an aftermarket unit that does not support the setting of timer for power off after door closes.

So... when removing the doors, the Jeep does not time-out for power off because it does not see the door open/close.

Does anyone know of another method to program that or a way to make a bypass switch to simulate the door status?

There used to be a 5 or 10A fuse you could pull to get that done. Not sure in the newer ones if it’s connected to multiple systems. For a stop gap find the door closed “button” and figure out how to wedge or tape it to the closed position. Should just be a pressure switch like on a fridge.

I assume its the plunger that keeps the door from freely swinging open is actuating it internally because I've found no exterior detent button.
Would it not be that it needs to see the action of opening the door and then closing? That's why I think a momentary switch that would simulate NC then momentary open?

Most likely the plunger yes. Push it and see if the lights go off. If it does then it’s just a momentary in reverse basically.

Pretty certain the door ajar switch in these trucks is built into the latch mechanism itself.

I would have assumed everything times out after 10 minutes once the vehicle is turned off. That's what mine does even if you don't open a door.

I've waited 30min... no time out. May be a different issue?

Strange. Could be. The settings in the screen only go up to a max of 10 minutes. I didn't see any other settings that looked useful (just took a walk away from my desk to go see, lol).

I’ve got a 2020 sport, I’ve replaced the head unit as well. Unplug the door harness but don’t remove the door or open the door. if you do that does the power time out? With the harness still unplugged open the door, does that power it down ?

Chris is right, that is controlled at the door latch. I’m wondering if a Tazer would have that ability to turn it on/off?

From what I'm reading, it is the actuation of the door latch. I think the unplugging the harness is not seeing the latch actuation...

In this diagram... if it only cares about driver door; could I make a switch for connections #7 & #8?

Not entirely sure if it would work on the gladiator but Should be able to wire a switch that connects to the door pin for door open/close that just grounds the position switch line. At least this is something I had to do to my jku when taking the doors off. I had power steps so it was how I made them work with no doors. Depending on the canbus system for the gladiator doors. May could do something similar.
