How does Stellantis expect anyone looking to build a Gladiator to used the specs on their website?

For example, Towing Capacity (there are other things that also don't make sense but let's look at towing capacity).

When you do the "Display Model Comparison" thing and compare models it lists the Sport for 7,700 lbs. Good. Then the Sport S for 6,000 lbs. Scroll over to the Sahara and it list 7,700 lbs. even though the only axle available is the 3.73. Then scroll over to the Mojaves (standard and X). Both are listed back at the old capacity of 6,000 lbs. even though it was bumped up for a while in 2025 to 7,000 lbs., like the Rubicon.

Don't get me started on the PT/FT 4x4 confusion.

What's wrong with these people?

Don't worry, you're not hauling commercial so nobody cares. Even if you were, the DOT would be just as confused and therefore assume every gladiator can tow up to 7,700lbs (because they can... unless you got the exploding clutch manual).

That pretty much shows how much it really matters in the real world.

Back in 74 Paw Paw hooked up the 28' all 2x4 and stainless Airstream to his 289 powered, three speed, 4 wheel drum brake Country Squire and partied on down the road with the family.

Today people act like if you're an Oz over payload DOT's NCIS division will stop at nothing to scrape every piece of debris from the crash site (because you'll inevitably crash), weigh it all, and prosecute you above and beyond the fullest extent of the law.

It's not DOT most people are worried about. It's getting sued if you wind up in an accident.

Your insurance covers stupid. Speeding is actually illegal and yet your covered. And yet somehow people think towing 6200lbs with their truck rated at 6k means anything to anyone. You're still covered and it doesn't change fault. Some states define how much over weight you have to be to rise to the level of criminal negligence and it's usually 5k pounds. If you're trying to tow a backhoe with a gladiator you get what your deserve. For everyone else it doesn't matter. Fault doesn't change anyway. Towing said backhoe and somebody rear ends you... they're still at fault. You blow a stop sign towing a little red wagon, you're at fault. Pretty simple.

It's weird that it's so obscured because it actually has really good towing capacities with the tow package and max tow package for trucks in this segment. You'd think that would be an advertising point that they'd show all over the place.

If towing capacity is a serious concern, the Gladiator may not be the right vehicle for you. JMHO
With 600-700 lbs tongue weight and two people you’ve already maxed out your payload.

Show me one case where the drivers insurance didn't cover them because the trailer was too heavy? I've been asking the same of every internet "expert" in liability and court proceedings for decades since the pirate4x4 days and nobody cabana find one? If you rear end someone they are at fault. If you live in a no fault state it certainly doesn't matter. Your trailer being over by a few hundred pounds means nothing to anyone aside from on the internet. You'll find the random case where the driver was cited for improper towing, but even those it's always 5k+ pound over the limit. The cop doesn't know or care about the difference between a max tow and a Mojave, nor does he care. If your hitch even appears to be rated for the load and the load isn't absurd(thus the backhoe example), it won't even be a question at the scene. I've yet to see an insurance adjuster show up to a scene when the vehicles were still there, let alone start weighing roadside debris to see if the trailer was 6k or 6200 pounds.

8240 pounds on the scale, but with the tandem axles it only had ~500lbs of tongue weight. Towed just fine. No issues pulling grades, stopping, maintaining speed, etc. 0 sway. Thanks to the low frontal area I'd argue it towed better than a small 3500lb single axle camp trailer in pretty much all aspects. Sure of you're looking to tow 10k pounds on a regular basis, especially with a large frontal area like a toy hauler, you need a bigger truck. If you'll occasionally tow ~7k pounds and also want to wheel the truck, the gladiator is the best option on the market in my opinon.

Show three cases of people being sued for towing overweight causing an accident.
Are you inferring that if a kid on a bike accidently pulls in front of traffic, you hit the brakes, and you are 1,000 or more pounds overweight and the kid is in a wheelchair in the courtroom with a fractured spine ........ don't you think that Morgan and Morgan (or whatever law firm is in your area) won't be on that case like white on rice ..... sorry .... but regardless of "fault", I don't want to be in that courtroom.

Towing overweight would certainly be the far lesser evil in the list of traffic violations I may or may not have committed in my time driving 😂😬
