What’s worn out faster than you expected?

That’s rough, especially that early. You’d expect the Mojave setup to hold up a bit better.

Were you running it pretty hard off-road or mostly daily driving?

I did many 60+ mph down washboard trails. I would at I was the harshest on this Jeep compared to all my other built mall crawlers. I’m fully taking advantage of living in Southern Utah. I know I will need to replace the whole suspension and steering in next year. I drive 18K miles a year here. Wish it lasted longer, but that’s not the only issue I have with the Mojave suspension.

Forgot about the factory shocks. Three of the four were bleeding fluid by 20K miles.

Didn't even waste my time with warranty. Just put Bilstein 5100's in the truck. No issues since.

Yea I wasn't thrilled with the short life span, but I replaced it with a Metalcoak unit so that shouldn't be a problem again for a while.



99.995% highway / on road. This truck is almost never offroad unless you count driving through my yard.

Louisiana roads though barely quality as 'on road' though, so there's that.

Mine is all Steer Smarts and Falcon. Hopefully it lasts longer than the OEM.

I bought mine used with just under 30K miles then immediately took a 1200 mile road trip with it and found it had a shimmy after that trip that turned to be the beginnings of the Wobble. It happens.

Shocks around 24k. A few seals were also leaking and repaired at the same time. (I'd have to go find the paperwork to remind me which ones). All fixed under warranty.

That’s a tough list… sounds like a bunch of smaller things adding up more than one big failure.

I'm at 88k miles now.

The transmission went at 21k miles, other things started to go after the 36k warranty expired.

That makes a lot more sense then. 60+ on washboard will definitely expose any weak points pretty quick. Still though… you’d hope it would go a bit longer before giving out.

Oh that’s a pretty early hit on the transmission… especially at 21k.

And sounds like once it got past warranty, a bunch of the smaller stuff started stacking up too

Yeah I wasn't too upset. The service tech said he could barely hear the rattle or squeak then he asked if I could show him. He said he would replace it. I said that I would hate to have one new shock and one with 18K miles. He said he doesn't own the company so he replaced both. Can't be upset about that. Took 28 days to get them. That was the only bad part, but I live in Utah so little things don't bother like they did when I lived in Dallas.

Yeah at that point it’s hard to justify going through warranty… especially if you already know what you want to replace it with.

Sounds like the 5100s have been a solid upgrade though

At least it’s being used the way it’s supposed to be!

4x4 system wiring harness... Had it fixed at 25k miles, and now its acting up again at 60K miles. Debating if I bring it back to the dealership (out of warranty) or inspect and repair it myself.

That’s exactly what a lot of Gladiator owners seem to run into… the more upright windshield just takes a beating

What number replacement are you on?

First on the Jeep. (But just replaced another on our Class B. Based on a Ford Transit van, it has the similar brick-like aerodynamics . . .)

So far yes. Also purchased the extended warranty just in case, as I hope to have the truck for a long time.
