Someone posted a picture, not long ago, in one of the oil change threads here, after doing their own oil change. The picture showed a bottle of 5W30 oil, instead of the 0W20 recommended by Jeep.

I will buy the first person's oil change that can show a provable instance were FCA denied a warranty claim solely based on the lack of a MS-6395 cert of the oil were both the correct grade and current API cert was in place.

The armchair Chicken Little's here get the gold star badge to put on the parents fridge to show their win. The real world though, it is a non issue. Mobil's lack of certification does not mean the current formulations would not meet it, just they have not gone through the process of certification. If Valvoline conventional meets it, the hurdle is not high.

LOL, ok, but why would you?

Cost is the same, one meets the certification, one does not.

What compelling circumstances would cause you to make that choice?

I buy Mobil 1 and an oil filter and go to a local guy down the road that does a lot of commercial vehicle work. It costs about $25 for the labor. The service has been excellent with zero issues.

You want to articulate that?
From my understanding: FCA had a falling out with Mobile 1. For whatever reason. They excluded their full synthetic oils by having some new fancy certification needed. Which is ironic because FCA vehicles are notorious for being poor quality, and would benefit from a great oil like Mobile 1 full synthetic high mileage or annual protection. It seems like a business spat and to even HINT that they wont cover warranty if you dont use their snake oil is morally wrong. I have never gotten such behavior from legendary (quality) companies like Honda and Toyota. On principle people should stand up and fight the injustice. I consider Mobile 1 to be better than Penzoil Platinum. The only oil as good would be Penzoil UltraPlatinum, which is nearly two times the cost as the best Mobile 1 oil, around here. Now, $200 price difference over 5 years may not seem like a lot, but it is still strongarming consumers into making a choice for FCA’s interest.

Havent gotten a chance to check warranty because wife has been in labor all weekend. Will check warranty ramifications later

Btw this may be the patent for Penzoil’s Ultra Platinum oil. It is the newest one that I could find, if anyone were interested.

So your principled stand, that you are potentially willing to test FCA warranty stance on, is a "falling out" that you don't even understand.

I think I'm done here, I've never seen a bunch of people so dead set on using a product that doesn't meet manufacturer recommendations in my life.

Put whatever you want in your engine, but to go bavk to the initial question, Mopar Oil is not Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 does not meet FCA MS6395

It was a pleasure discouraging with you. Your input and perspective were valuable to me and others here.

Internet + car group = guaranteed oil argument
Same with any group of people. People like to affirm their habits and practices and discuss with others to either validate their choices or make sure they can do it a better way. Its the same with what ammo people carry in their guns, what supplements in their pre/post workout drinks, or what tires they use for off-roading.

When is the Jeep set to alert you its time to change the oil? Mine came on somewhere around 8,400.

The owners manual says sensors monitor the oil and changing indicator depends on vehicle driving conditions. The longest it says to go without a change if the light doesnt come on is 10k miles or 1yr, whichever first

‘I think there is some sort of algorithm and I have heard it comes on somewhere between 7500 and 10,000 miles depending on how it’s driven.
