Really hoping that it comes through and is available tomorrow. I am lucky I only live a mile away from the place I needed to get gravel from, but even for that mile I wasn't feeling to great with 6000lbs behind me and no brakes.
I hear ya - I'm a good hour or so from the load I need to get, and I need to finish stripping and haul a car to the crusher soon, too, and hauling into Des Moines, they sort of watch that.

I talked with Jeep Customer Care again today as well as my dealer and there is still no part # available for the trailer brake controller.

It's B.S. that they've shown this on the Jeep.com site for 9 months now and it doesn't exist.

I'm going to wait 30 more days, and if it's not available I'm going aftermarket.

Received this from my dealership parts dept earlier today

“I have a part number of 82215652 on that brake controller, which I am told by Mopar Specifying as being the same as the Brake Controller on the JL Wrangler. It is expected to be in development until the end of today (12/30/19). I will check tomorrow and see if there is any additional status change.”

Interesting. Hope it is tomorrow. If not I think they need to change their tagline to "Best in class towing, for those that don't like to stop"

For real? Will have to see if my dealer can confirm. Have you gotten anything from FCA proper?

I have not and no further communication from my dealership today. Will be following up in the morning.

Confirmed pn: 82215652 is valid. Listed as wiring kit with a price of $298. Current status is “no orders or back orders allowed, vendor overdue”
Sorry - also - expected availability is listed as Jan 15th
Thanks. That's what we kind of figured all along.. FCA must have had to find a new vendor and/or the existing vendor ran into issues fulfilling their obligation.

I wonder if it's going to end up looking like the controller that is still shown at Jeep.com? That'll be interesting, especially if they swapped vendors.

What's interesting though is that when you plug in that part #, the photo that is shown is of the trailer wiring kit, not the brake controller.

I installed the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller. Workes as expected!

Looks good. So tempting to avoid the wait and just install now.

Wonder what the dealer will charge to install. You should get 15% off the cost though.

So how do you use these things? If they auto adjust to your vehicle braking, what's with the knob and buttons on the popular models?
