Why not just rip out the carpets? they are removable. Then they can’t get dirty.
I wish the JT/JL was offered with rubber floor mats like work-tiered pickups are offered with. Carpet in the floor in any vehicle is just a dirt sponge.

Agreed. It’s hard to believe that after all these years of people pulling carpet out of Jeeps that there isn’t a -$250 carpet delete option. Even better would be a linex’d tub option...

I’d be all over a linex floor!

First thing I do after buying a new Jeep is pull the carpets, planning to line-x very soon.
Post some pics when your done! I currently have the slush mats which seem like they’ll do pretty well. The drain plugs look to be a great feature. We haven’t had much snow here this winter so I haven’t had the chance to try them out.

I think you’ve just stated it backwards, very historically jeeps had no carpets, they became a luxury add on during the later cj5/7, and were still an option in YJ packages.

The base TJ was the last, I think before 2000-2001, that carpet was an option. The center console was also optional, it came with just a rubber boot over the e-brake handle.

The general public expects carpets in their vehicles now. Why you’d want a rug in a Jeep/truck you get in with muddy shoes, I don’t know. Why do they supply carpet floor mats? Oh they look good until you put your feet in the first tine, but do they protect anything?

True, but this is a 60k vehicle. I do like having some creature comforts, and it cuts down on the road noise. I spend 2 hrs a day in the thing, after all.

I had an FJ Cruiser several years back and I loved the rubber floor it came with. It was so easy to keep clean. Would be great in a Jeep. Hey @JeepCares , are you listening?

Did you paint your dead pedal or did it come in red?

I completely understand and agree. My point is that it would be a much easier sell for FCA to sell a delete option than it would be making carpet and additional cost option. I would guess that 80% or more people would still want carpet for the creature comforts. Everything about a Jeep is a cost/benefit analysis and to me, if people are buying manual windows and door locks in 2020 there would also be people who opt for no carpet, even if a linex'd tub isn't an option.

Go with a hose out interior like the Honda Element came with, with the carpet mats. Then you wouldn’t need the slush mats. Just pull out the carpet mats when necessary.
